The New Day will mark a major milestone with a celebration.
On November 28, 2014, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E made their in-ring debut as a trio, officially known as The New Day, on WWE SmackDown. Fast forward to 2024, The New Day will soon mark their 10-year anniversary. As such, WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce plans to specially dedicate an upcoming episode of WWE’s red brand to The New Day.
Pearce informed Kingston of this plan following this week’s episode of Raw. “This year, ten years as New Day. It’s time to celebrate, man,” Adam Pearce said. “You guys are one of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history. Because of that, if it’s cool with guys, I actually wanted to dedicate a special episode of Raw to celebrating you. An entire episode, I wish [Woods] was here to talk about it too, if it’s cool with you guys.”
Kingston agreed to Pearce’s proposition, while acknowledging that he and Woods have had hit a “rough patch” recently. Looking ahead, though, Kingston believes their anniversary will get them back on the same page.
Most recently, Woods and Kingston lost to the War Raiders, after which they were seen arguing once again, this time with Kingston walking away from Woods.
When will the show take place?
The New Day’s third member, Big E, has been sidelined from action since he sustained a neck injury in March 2022. In September 2024, the former WWE Champion noted that he was due for more neck scans, somewhere between December and March, which would determine if he’s healthy enough to return to the ring.
As of now, it is unclear if Big E will at least appear at the celebration.
WWE did not announce details on when the themed episode would be taking place. It’s worth noting that the group’s official on-air debut took place on the November 28, 2014, episode of SmackDown. The trio won a match against Curtis Axel, Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil.
