A new report dismisses a rumor about Becky Lynch‘s WWE contract prior to her departure from the company.
Lynch has been absent from WWE since she lost to Liv Morgan on the May 27 episode of WWE RAW. She then entered free agency, as her contract expired. However, she was said to be taking time off.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) responded to comments Jonathan Coachman made on his Backstage Pass show. Coachman said that Lynch was asking for over $2 million per year, and WWE/TKO didn’t agree to the terms. Coachman claimed that if they paid her, Lynch would be on the show.
Sapp cites multiple sources knowledgeable about the situation and writes that they shot down the rumors. Per Sapp, Becky Lynch and WWE are still on good terms, and WWE was respecting her decision to take time off. The report notes that WWE sources said that if Lynch wanted to sign a deal before she took time off, they likely would have done that.
Additionally, Sapp writes that the $2 million number was outright denied, but WWE “would have jumped” at that number if Lynch asked for it. Sapp writes that, based on the pay scale, Lynch would stand to make well beyond that number.
As previously reported, it was noted that both sides expected to work together again if the situation called for it.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
