John Cena Once Paid $100 To Get A 2 AM McFlurry At McDonald’s

Cody Rhodes recently shared a unique experience that he had with 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena.

During a recent episode of Snack Wars, Cody Rhodes was a special guest. During the episode, while eating a McRib, the American Nightmare shared an interesting story about how he and the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena managed to get themselves a McFlurry at 2 AM. It is a known fact that in most McDonald’s chains, the ice cream machine will not be working after midnight.

However, Rhodes and Cena managed to get themselves a McFlurry at 2 AM after Cena offered to pay $100.

“People hating on the Golden Arches. I won’t stand for it. I won’t. McDonald’s is there late at night. One time, John Cena… Me and John, 2 AM, McDonald’s they always hit you with the same thing, ‘Hey, ice cream machine is down. We can’t make the McFlurry.’ ‘Really? You can’t make the McFlurry? What if I give you a $100 bill?’ This is John in the moment. They turned that thing on. McFlurry was right there for him,” Cody Rhodes said.

How “right to repair” affects McDonald’s

The “broken” ice cream machines at McDonald’s have been a running gag for years, and there’s even a McBroken website tracking which ones are down. There were actually some legal issues that prevented them from being fixed by outside parties — keyword were.

The U.S. Copyright Office announced new exemptions that allows restaurants to repair “retail-level commercial food preparation” equipment. This includes the ice cream machine used to make McFlurrys. By law, McDonald’s ice cream machines were only allowed to be fixed by the Taylor Company, which has partnered with McDonald’s since 1956. Now, third-party companies can come in and make necessary repairs, saving you time (and John Cena money).

Have you ever gotten a McFlurry past midnight?
