AEW Collision Results

This week’s episode of AEW Collision kicks off with Tony Schiavone in the ring with a lot of members of the roster, he introduces the new Tag Team Champions, Private Party. The crowd chants you deserve it. Isiah Kassidy says at the beginning of this year he said ‘New Year, new champs.’ Kassidy admits it took them a long time, but they did it.

Marq Quinn thanks the Young Bucks for making them earn it as he believes they got better every time they stepped into the ring together. Kassidy says they are willing to defend the titles against anybody and get in FTR’s face.

Daniel Garcia tries to break it up and The Outrunners say they are there to celebrate five years of Private Party. They all shake hands. LFI and Top Flight don’t look thrilled but don’t do anything physical.

The Acclaimed are backstage with Renee Paquette. Anthony Bowens congratulates Private Party and says they are coming for the titles. Max Caster says they aren’t gonna stop now just because it’s them and not the Young Bucks.

Caster and Bowens proceed to interrupt each other and both look annoyed about it. Caster reveals he still has MVP’s business card and Bowens is none too happy about it.

Day of the Dead Match: Thunder Rosa vs. Harley Cameron

  • The closing moments of the match saw Thunder Rosa run up a half-set-up table like a ramp to hit Harley Cameron with a dropkick in the corner who had a garbage can on her head.

Winner: Thunder Rosa

Grade: B+

This was a very fun hardcore match. Rosa and Cameron work very well together and this was very entertaining. I would imagine based on the commentary that Rosa will be challenging for a title in the near future.

Roderick Strong is ready for Shane Taylor

The Undisputed Kingdom is backstage. Roderick Strong hypes up his match against Shane Taylor tonight and his desire to get his hands on MJF at Full Gear. The Kingdom made it clear they want a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles.

Brian Cage and Lance Archer interrupt and seemingly challenge The Kingdom to a future match.

Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes) vs. Kyle Fletcher

  • The finish of the match saw Kyle Fletcher hit Komander with a top rope brainbuster to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Kyle Fletcher

Fletcher continues to attack Komander after the match which brings out Mark Davis. The two men exchange words in the ring and Fletcher leaves.

Grade: A-

This was a damn good match. They gave Komander a lot in this match and really made some fans in the audience believe he could actually win the match. Fletcher has really come into his own in recent months and his impending match with Will Ospreay should be an exciting one.

Is Daniel Garcia ready to challenge for the TNT Championship?

Jack Perry is backstage talking about the changes happening in AEW and is interrupted by Daniel Garcia. Garcia says he’s just there to talk. Garcia makes it clear he’s looking for a shot at the TNT Championship. Perry says Garcia isn’t ready to challenge for the title and walks away.

Brian Cage and Lance Archer vs. Shaun Smith and Joe Keys

  • A quick squash match won by Cage and Archer

After the match, Cage and Archer continue to attack their opponents until The Undisputed Kingdom comes out and runs them off.

AR Fox is backstage and he’s interrupted by Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian. After the two exchange words, Fox challenges him to a match on Collision next week.

Kris Statlander is backstage and challenges Mercedes Mone to a match for the TBS Championship at Full Gear.

Jon Moxley arrives at AEW Collision

Jon Moxley comes through the crowd with Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta. Moxley cuts his promo from the crowd and says they are in Philadelphia the home of Orange Cassidy. Moxley says Cassidy wants to be the king, he has the right idea but it’s not that simple. Mox says the game between them has already begun.

Moxley implies Cassidy might not make it to Full Gear with his body and mind intact. Moxley puts over the city of Philadelphia and reminds everyone that Wheeler Yuta is from there. Mox says he loves Yuta and would do anything for him and calls him a Philadelphia hero.

Action Andretti interrupts and says he can’t stand to listen to this for another second. Andretti says he thinks all the people agree with him that Yuta is not what Philly represents. Andretti mocks Yuta’s beard and says he looks like he just came from Amish town on a horse and buggy.

Action says he’s here to throw hands with any of them right now. PAC attacks Andretti from behind. We now have an impromptu match.

Action Andretti vs. PAC

  • The finish of the match saw interference from Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir, which allowed PAC to lock Action Andretti in the Brutalizer to win the match via submission.

Winner: PAC

Orange Cassidy says Jon Moxley is using Wheeler Yuta

PAC refuses to release the hold until Orange Cassidy appears in the crowd. Cassidy says he loves Philadelphia and talks about his time training with Yuta there. Cassidy says Yuta used to crash on his couch and that’s not the same guy who’s in the ring now.

Orange Cassidy says Moxley is using him and at Full Gear he’ll bring back the old Yuta, bring back AEW, and defeat Moxley to become the new AEW World Champion. Moxley tells Yuta to go attack Cassidy and when he doesn’t do it he slaps him. Yuta goes into the crowd and faces off with Cassidy but hesitates. Cassidy knocks the chair away and hits him with an Orange Punch.

Moxley loses his mind and heads into the crowd but Cassidy is already up the stairs and far away from Mox and his crew.

Grade: B

Moxley’s promo was decent enough, and Action Andretti’s interruption made sense even though you would hope someone further up the card would be the one to interject. The match between Andretti and PAC was solid, but the outcome was never once in doubt.

Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita are backstage. Fletcher says he’s tired of Will Ospreay and Mark Davis living in the past as he’s looking toward the future. Fletcher says his future has gold in it and they also want a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles. Takeshita challenges Ricochet and a partner of his choosing to a match on Dynamite next week.

Lio Rush (w/ Top Flight and Lelia Grey) vs. Ari Daivari (w/ Smart Mark Sterling and Josh Woods)

  • The finish of the match saw Lio Rush hit Ari Daivari with a Frog Splash to score the pinfall victory.

Grade: B

The match was pretty quick but it was a good showcase for Lio Rush. Rush is clearly looking to back in the win column and this match accomplished that.

MxM Collection and Johnny TV are backstage and tease a future collab together. It was exactly what you would expect from a segment with those three men.

Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom) vs. Shane Taylor (w/ Lee Moriarty and The Infantry)

  • The finish of the match saw Roderick Strong hit Shane Taylor with a running knee lift to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Roderick Strong

Grade: B+

Loved this match. These two men beat the heck out of each other. Even though Taylor lost, I think he’s criminally underrated and I would love to see a lot more for him in AEW. The finish was a bit wonky, but the match was still really great. It seemed like that was on the referee, but you never know for sure.

A video package airs recapping the AEW debut of Bobby Lashley on Dynamite.

It’s announced that Private Party will defend the AEW World Tag Team Titles in a four-way at Full Gear and there will be a series of matches this month to determine their challengers.

A vignette airs for Mina Shirakawa who is returning to AEW soon.

AEW Women’s World Championship: Mariah May (c) vs. Anna Jay

  • The finish of the match saw Mariah May get Anna Jay with a cradle roll pin to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Still champion, Mariah May

Grade: B

Mariah May celebrates up the aisle as AEW Collision goes off the air.

AEW Collision Review

I thought overall this was a fun show. Some really good matches and storyline advancement heading into Full Gear. There seemed to be an effort to inject more storylines into Collision tonight than we typically see. This is a good thing that will bring importance to the show long term.
