Sami Zayn comes out. Sikoa opens his arms for a hug. Zayn suplexes him, but The Bloodline gangs up on him. The Usos make the save, and the brawl continues. Zayn accidentally kicks Reigns, and Sikoa escapes. The Usos argue with Zayn.

Grade: B+

As far as Bloodline matches go, this was pretty typical. It took 20 minutes for the match to begin, including the opening video and the entrances for both groups. The action itself was standard for The Bloodline as well, but the story-telling with the tension between Jey and Roman was well-done. Sikoa pinning Reigns cleanly was a big surprise. Zayn’s allegiance remains somewhat questionable, given how he helped the O.G. Bloodline. It seems inevitable that he will fully reunite with them soon, but today was not that day.

Winners and still WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions: Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair

Grade: B

This was a good showing for everyone involved, especially Legend and Jackson, as the match marked their Premium Live Event debut. They more than held their own with everyone else in the match. The miscommunication between Green and Niven teased their potential breakup, which would be a shame because they’re a fun pairing and the division needs depth. This match would have been a good spot for Belair and Cargill to drop the titles, given the multi-team stipulation, and their win suggests that they might continue to hold the gold for some time to come.

Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed

Seth Rollins takes the fight to Bronson Reed during his entrance, and they brawl up the ramp. They continue to brawl around ringside. Rollins gets into the ring and dives onto Reed. Winner: Seth Rollins

Grade: A

Reed had a great showing here, even in defeat, and this went a long way in solidifying him as a legitimate player on the crowded RAW roster. He has had a great run up to this point, and hopefully he continues the momentum moving forward. Rollins looked good in his first televised match since WWE Money in the Bank, and he stands to reestablish himself as a world title contender heading into the end of the year.

Winner and inaugural WWE Women’s Crown Jewel Champion: Liv Morgan

Triple H presents Liv Morgan with the Crown Jewel Championship after the bell.

Grade: B+

Morgan and Nia Jax told a good story here, both with the size difference between them and the presence of Tiffany Stratton. The match itself was about what you would expect, though Jax has made a lot of progress in her second WWE run. The multiple cash-in attempts by Stratton were arguably overdone, but it sold the chaotic nature of the match. Her involvement, along with that of Rodriguez and Mysterio, kept Jax strong in defeat and helped Morgan continue to gain momentum while being helped by external factors.

Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens, ever the troll, is wearing a “Cowboy” Bob Orton shirt. The fans sing Randy Orton‘s theme as he comes to the ring. Orton is doing his corner poses during his entrance, and Owens attacks him with a chair. He goes to put Orton through the broadcast table, but Orton fights him off. Result: No Contest

Grade: B

These days, WWE premium live event cards almost always have five matches, so you had to figure that at least one of them would get cut or shortened. WWE teased calling off the Reed/Rollins match with their backstage brawl. Instead, this match never started, and it was just a wild brawl from the start. The fight underscored the bad blood between Orton and Owens. Still, it’s hard not to feel like this was a bit of a bait and switch, at least in the moment.

WWE United States Championship: LA Knight (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade

Andrade and Carmelo Hayes start trading blows, and LA Knight joins the fight. Hayes springs off the ropes and takes down Andrade. Knight slams him onto the broadcast table. Knight takes Andrade down with a shoulder tackle as the match returns to the ring. Andrade hits an inverted Spanish Fly.

Hayes hits Nothing But Net, but Andrade breaks up the pin. Knight drops both men with a BFT for the win.

Winner and still WWE United States Champion: LA Knight

Grade: B+

This match heated up the crowd with some fast-paced, exciting action. It seemed like it could go any way, though it would have been too soon to end Knight’s reign. This was a big opportunity for both Hayes and Andrade, as they haven’t had many standard matches on premium live events like this. The win was a statement victory for LA Knight as well, and it was a needed one, as his reign has been somewhat lacking so far.

Winner and WWE Crown Jewel Champion: Cody Rhodes

Gunther shakes Rhodes’ hand after the match, and Rhodes celebrates. Triple H and others present Rhodes with the WWE Crown Jewel Championship. Liv Morgan joins Rhodes in the ring, and Triple H raises their hands.

Grade: A

This match lived up to the hype, which is saying something, as both stars have been built up strongly while being kept mostly separate, aside from their clash in the Royal Rumble match. The clean finish was the right call, as there was no need to taint the outcome. Rhodes catching Gunther with a surprise pin keeps Gunther strong and gives him a strong case for a rematch between the two down the road. A win for Gunther would have firmly solidified him as a made man, but there was nothing wrong with adding another accolade to Rhodes’ collection here.

WWE Crown Jewel Review

The crowd was hot throughout the show, and the card was bookended by two major matches. The opening match somewhat fell short of the hype, given how much investment there has been in the Bloodline’s reunion. The other matches did what they needed to do; Tiffany Stratton’s cash-in teases continued to build her eventual turn on Nia Jax, while champions LA Knight and Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill picked up statement wins.

Rollins and Reed was a solid bout as well. The bait-and-switch with Owens and Orton was disappointing, but surely it’s only a matter of time before they actually have a match. Rhodes and Gunther delivered a great main event that ended the show on a strong note.

Grade: B+
