Ring of Honor is reportedly in talks for a television deal, and the negotiations are said to be close.
Chris Jericho won the ROH World Championship for a second time on the October 23 episode of AEW Dynamite. This led some fans to wonder whether the long-rumored TV deal for ROH might become a reality soon. Jericho hinted as much on the October 30 episode of AEW Dynamite. There, he said that he would take ROH to new heights and lead them to a bigger platform.
Dave Melzter reported that negotiations are “close” for a Ring of Honor television deal, as he wrote in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer noted that TruTV has been rumored because they are shifting into airing more sports content. However, no other details are available at this time. (H/t Josh Nason of F4WOnline.com)
Tony Khan On ROH
Tony Khan previously sais that ROH came up in the conversations AEW was having while they were negotiating their TV deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. He was asked about the situation in the ROH Death Before Dishonor Media Call.
“Yes. I have had good conversations with Warner Brothers Discovery and Ring of Honor has come up in these conversations, which is exciting,” Tony Khan said. “It’s a great time in the wrestling business and AEW and ROH. Also, with AEW negotiating a major media rights package and having these in-depth and exciting conversations that we’re having right now with Warner Brothers Discovery.
“It’s tremendous for ROH to be involved in this. It’s something we have discussed, it’s a great brand. We produce great content weekly and the pay-per-view shows, as well as a great library of historical content and trademarks, and IP opportunities. It’s an active conversation now and Ring of Honor is part of the bigger AEW discussions that we’re having.” [H/T: Fightful]
