Bobby Lashley: Tony Khan Allows Legends To Continue Their Career In AEW

Bobby Lashley comments on potentially joining AEW and shares his thoughts on MVP‘s move to the company.

Speaking on The Lame Guys Podcast, Bobby Lashley was asked about MVP joining AEW, and the host noted that he hoped that he would see Lashley there.

“You think they have enough money for me? [Laughs] I’m expensive,” Bobby Lashley said. “MVP is great, man. The one thing that I know with Tony Khan, and this is one thing that I’ve seen that’s really cool, and the fans need to understand this, because sometimes the fans come out and they say, ‘Oh, man, they’re just getting old WWE guys.’ No, man, with any show, you need your guys that are established to help establish some of the guys that aren’t there.

“So MVP coming over brings a lot of notoriety. It brings a fan base, and it brings a level of stardom that they can use at that show. Some of their guys there are fantastic wrestlers, they just need to be in the ring with certain, because if you put a fantastic wrestler against another fantastic wrestler, you just try to sell the match, it’s hard because some of the people are like well, oh, they did some cool stuff. But once you start mixing in some different people, the Daniel Bryans, Edge and Christian, and some of those guys, Samoa Joe, those guys get a real good rub off of them.”

Bobby Lashley On Tony Khan

Lashley continued by highlighting how he talked to MVP. He described how Tony Khan lets legends “carry on” if they want to. Lashley named Adam Copeland (Edge) as an example.

“I think what Tony Khan’s doing, because I’m still friends with MVP, so I talked to MVP about going over there, and I said, ‘How was it over there?’ He goes, ‘Good,'” Bobby Lashley said. “One thing that a lot of people say when they’re over there is that Tony Khan’s a really good dude, he’s genuinely saying to some of the people that go over there, ‘You deserve to still carry on if you want to.’ Edge, I know Edge was kind of being pushed out [of WWE], and Edge was like, ‘No, I took time off, and I was able to get cleared, and I want to come in here, I still have some stuff left in the tank. I want to have fun and do it. I don’t want it to be stressful. But I want to still be able to do it.’

“I think Tony Khan came and said, ‘You deserve to. You’re a legend of this business, and you can help us out, and I think we can help you out,’ and I think that’s what they did.”

Bobby Lashley On MVP

Lashley then shared his thoughts on MVP’s run in AEW so far and said it was a good deal for him.

“I think that’s what MVP is going,” he said. “He got pulled off TV early, and he wasn’t on TV for a while. Put him back on TV, and as you see, I saw that promo, it was an awesome promo he cut. I think that he can carry on and make some money for them, and he can escalate some of their guys. So I think it’s a good deal for him.”

Fightful Select previously reported that Bobby Lashley signed with AEW, and the company decided against debuting him at AEW WrestleDream.

WrestleZone will provide more information about Bobby Lashley’s status as it becomes available.
