Matt Hardy: Full Metal Mayhem Might Be The Last TLC-Style Match The Hardy Boyz Can Withstand

Matt Hardy prepares for Full Metal Mayhem.

On October 26, The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy) will vie for the TNA World Tag Team Championships in a Full Metal Mayhem match also involving ABC (Chris Bey and Ace Austin) and the reigning titleholders The System (Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers). This particular stipulation is a modified version of the popular TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs), which The Hardy Boyz are very familiar with.

During a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy explored the possibility of TNA Bound for Glory, the October 26 pay-per-view, marking their last TLC-style match (H/T to Fightful for the transcription).

“It very well could be, I don’t know,” Matt said. “This might be the last TLC/Full Metal Mayhem match that our old vessels can withstand. You think about that as you get a little bit older and deeper into your career, there’s a lot less ahead of you than there is behind you, you think about that. How many more of these do I have left? This might be our last true Full Metal Mayhem match. We’re gonna go out there and give it all we got.

“Jeff’s been kicking ass when it comes to training, I’ve been kicking ass when it comes to training. I can’t stress how important it is that this last run in TNA, and especially having a great run as TNA tag team champions and really cementing our legacy as one of the best to ever do this, I can’t stress how paramount it is to both of us.”

As it stands, Matt Hardy heads into Bound For Glory at the age of 50, while his brother Jeff trails shortly behind at 47. The Hardy Boyz’s last tag match involving a ladder occurred at WrestleMania 33 — the same night they returned to WWE.
