Shelton Benjamin: You Need A Strong Company Besides WWE, AEW Is 100% A Positive Thing

One of the newest AEW signees is former WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin. He reunited with his fellow Hurt Business stablemate MVP.

Recently, while speaking on the Gabby AF podcast, Shelton Benjamin mentioned that he has noticed a lot of differences in how AEW approaches things. Benjamin is also glad that AEW exists as it gives the spotlight to a lot of stars who may have not even been put on TV in WWE.

“So far I have noticed a lot of differences in their approach and things like that. And I’m still… I’m still learning their system. I’ve only been there what, a month? So I’m not going to learn everything I need to know in that time. But from what I’ve seen, I’m starting to understand there are some very very different ways of operation. That some I think are wonderful. Some I think are absolutely groundbreaking as far as the approach and then there…

“Obviously, like anything else, there are some things I go, ‘Hmmm, I don’t know about this.’ But at the same time, I’m too new to really pass judgment right now. Because I look at the overall effect that AEW has had on the wrestling landscape. And for the most, and to me, it’s been mostly positive. You need a strong company aside from WWE. And there are a lot of guys and girls on AEW who, quiet frankly may not have ever gotten a shot to even be on national TV, much less a star in WWE. So I applaud [them] — they are really giving a lot of well-deserving chance to shine. How bright? It’s really up to them. But it’s 100% a positive thing. We needed AEW as opposed to WWE,” Shelton Benjamin said.
