WWE NXT Results:

Damage CTRL (IYO SKY & Kairi Sane) vs Meta-Four (Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson)

Sky and Jackson trade strikes and takedowns. Sky flips and lands a dropkick. Sane and Sky double-team Jackson. Double dropkick by Sane and Sky. Sane misses a corner spear. Jackson and Legend work over Sane. Sane tries a crossbody and gets caught by Legend. Sane turns it into a crucifix. Sky tries a crossbody, but Legend catches Sky. Legend dribbles Sky and Sane’s head between the top and middle rope. Sane manages to lock Legend in a sleeper. Legend breaks the hold. Sane sends LEgend out of the ring with a head scissors.

After the break, Sky and Sane land a popup InSANE Elbow. Legend breaks up the pin. Sky tries a springboard, but she slips. Sky recovers and lands a boot. Jackson is prone in the ring. Sky misses the Over the Moonsault. Legend boots Sky into next week. Legend and Jackson set up their finish. Piper Niven appears out of nowhere and trips Jackson. Niven pulls Jackson out of the ring and attacks her. The referee calls for the bell. Chelsea Green and Niven leave both teams lying.

No Contest

Grade: B+

The NXT Universe was hot for Sky and Sane. This was a fun match. All four women worked with an energy tonight that you could tell they set out to steal the show. It’s still early, but this could very well be the match of the night. This match didn’t have a definitive winner, but the finish makes perfect sense, as Green and Niven have beef with both teams, and everyone wants the women’s tag championships. This match and angle further make those titles seem important. Credit to everyone involved here.

Backstage, Ashante “Thee” Adonis pushes up on Karmen Petrovic. Petrovic tells Adonis she only came down to ringside for his match last week because he cost her a match the week before. She wanted to return the favor. Adonis tells her there is obviously something between them. Petrovic says, nope. Sol Ruca and Brinley Reece chime in. Ruca says Adonis is clearly not Petrovic’s type. Petrovic takes exception to Ruca, thinking she knows what’s best for her. Petrovic wants a match.

Jaida Parker vs. Tatum Paxley

Paxley lands a splash. Rolling pin by Paxley. Parker kicks out but makes herself dizzy in the process. Dropkick by Paxley. Paxley gets caught in the ropes. Parker lands a teardrop hip attack. Inverted suplex by Parker. Paxley kicks out. Lola Vice is watching the match from backstage. Paxley fires up and lands a flurry of offense. Torture rack neckbreaker by Paxley. Parker kicks out. After a series of reversals, Parker lands Hypnotiq for the win.

Winner: Jaida Parker

After the match, Referees and security hold back Lola Vice, who is trying to get to the ring so she can get her hands on Parker. In the confusion, Wendy Choo appears and chokes out Paxley. Choo dumps Paxley in a box and rolls her away.

Grade: C+

This was a good TV match with a somewhat predictable ending. The twist of having Vice and Choo show up to further their feuds with Parker and Paxley is a nice touch.

Oba Femi vs Luca Crusifino

Femi misses a bot and gets hung up on the ropes. Crusifino lands a few strikes. Femi runs over Crusifino. Femi tosses Crusifino all over the ring. Crusifino fires up and lands a flurry of offense, even sending Femi flying out of the ring. Crusifino follows and gets chopped into oblivion by Femi on the apron. Tossing powerbomb throw by Femi. Femi lands the Fall from Grace powerbomb for the win.

Winner- Oba Femi

After the match, Stacks checks on Crusifino. Femi beats down Stacks and Crusifino. Femi pulls a table from under the ring. Tony D’Angelo runs down to ringside and gets swatted like a fly. Femi zipties D’Angelo to the ringpost to watch want happens next. Femi puts Stacks through the table. While D’Angelo screams, Femi powerbombs Crusifino through a ladder. Yes, you read that correctly.

Grade: B-

This match overstayed its welcome. Not because it was bad, it was entirely too long. Femi should have no issues defeating one of Tony D’Angelo’s lackeys. This is all probably leading to D’Angelo defeating Femi at Halloween Havoc… who is that for? Femi got some of his heat back but essentially obliterated the entire D’Angelo Family. That’s what needs to happen when you cross the Ruler of NXT.

The Champ and Challenger Face-off

Ethan Page is out first, followed by the NXT Champion, Trick Williams. Williams says he should drop Page like a mixtape after what Page did to him last week, but he promised NXT GM Ava he would wait till Halloween Havoc. Williams calls Page desperate. Page tells Williams he’s playing mind games. Page rants about how much he had to endure to get to this point.

Williams has been pampered. Page talks about scratching and crawling and tasting his own blood and learning to like it. Page asks if Williams has ever tasted his own blood. Williams says he gets it. Page has gotten his a$$ kicked a lot, which will continue at Halloween Havoc. Page says Williams is right. He is desperate. It took 17 years for him to become a champion in WWE.

After getting a taste, he’s addicted. He will get back what’s his. They are about to play in the devil’s playground. Page says they have to play by the devil’s rules, which are his rules. Williams says he’s looking forward to it and walks away.

Grade: B

Williams gets +1 for that mixtape line. Page and Williams did what they could to hype the match. They are leaning heavily into Williams not being hardcore enough to survive a Devil’s Playground match, which makes sense. Still, unless this entire promo foreshadowed what would happen in the match, it was a waste of time. Williams HAS to bleed and taste his own blood to prove Page wrong. When was the last time we had blood in NXT? Will they pull the trigger here and let Page and Williams cut lose in their title match?

Sol Ruca vs. Karmen Petrovic

Ruca and Petrovic trade submission attempts and strikes. Ruca takes control early. Ruca rides Petrovic like a surfboard before landing a superkick. Petrovic sees Adonis in the crowd with a lady friend. Petrovic fires up and lands a flurry of strikes to Ruca. Petrovic calls for her finish. Adonis and his lady friend get up and leave. Petrovic gets distracted watching this, and Ruca hits the Soul Snatcher for the win.

Winner- Sol Ruca

Grade: C+

Another solid TV match. It’s nice to see NXT giving TV time and angles to the lower-card talent working to improve (more so Petrovic than Adonis since he has more experience here). Not sure where all this ends, but Ruca using Petrovic’s distraction to hit another impressive Soul Snatcher was a good finish.

OTM w/Jaida Parker vs. Hank and Tank w/Cole Custer

A brawl breaks out while Hank and Tank make their entrance. Tank and Hank sandwich Price and get a near fall. Price and Nima work over Tank. Hank tags in and clears the ring. Tank gets dumped out of the ring. Parker tries a Hypnotiq sneak attack, but Lola Vice appears out of nowhere and spears Parker before she can land it. In the confusion, Custer hits Nima with his helmet. Hank and Tank hit their finish for the win.

Winners- Hank and Tank

Grade: C-

These guys are working hard but there wasn’t much heat to his match. Price and Nima look the part, but something seems to be missing with those two. With more time, they will find “It,” but this match… yeah, that wasn’t it. All four men were all over the place, and this match had way too many moving parts.

Giulia & Stephanie Vaquer vs Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne & Fallon Henley) (w/Jazmyn Nyx)

Giulia sends Henley flying with a dropkick. Henley tags in Jayne. Giulia slams Jayne. Vaquer tags in and suplexes Jayne. Vaquer head scissors Jayne and dribbles her head on the mat. Jayne drives Vaquer into the corner. Henley and Jayne work over Vaquer.

Nyx distracts Vaquer long enough for Henley to land a sneak attack. After the break, Nyx gets involved again. Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan hops the barricade and takes out Nyx. Back in the ring, Giulia lands her running knee strike before tossing Jayne to Vaquer. Vaquer hits her package backbreaker for the win.

Winners- Giulia & Stephanie Vaquer

Review: B

Good TV tag match. Considering where all four women are on the card, Giulia and Vaquer dominated here, which should have happened. Giulia and Vaquer have both looked good in their TV matches; this was no different. Fatal Influence needs to win matches, but this clearly wasn’t the spot for that to happen. If they are NXT’s resident badgirls, it’s odd that they seem to lose so many matches. Maybe that trend will change when a group member challenges Jordan for the North American Championship.

WWE NXT Review:

…What was that with Nikkita Lyons and Oba Femi? I’m not going to speculate here (I’m totally going to speculate here), but is this going to be ANOTHER romantic angle on NXT? If that’s what’s next for Femi after losing to D’Angelo again, someone calls Dr. Umar because WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE? Oh… yeah the rest of the show… Solid in-ring action for the most part. The Best match was the tag match opener between Damage CTRL vs. Meta-Four. The in-ring action, coupled with the angle afterward, made for the most entertaining match overall… with Oba Femi’s utter destruction of The D’Angelo Family a close second.

Grade: B-
