Chris Jericho is ready for his close-up.

Shudder released a new poster for Dark Match, an upcoming pro-wrestling-themed horror film. Dark Match will stream exclusively on Shudder on Friday, January 31st, 2025.

About Dark Match

“A small-time wrestling company accepts a well-paying gig in a backwoods town only to learn, too late, that the community is run by a mysterious cult leader with devious plans for their match,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

The cast of Dark Match includes Jericho (TERRIFIER 2), Ayisha Issa (TRANSPLANT), Steven Ogg (THE WALKING DEAD, WESTWORLD), Sara Canning (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), Michael Eklund (THE CALL) and Jonathan Cherry (GOON).

Shudder acquired the film’s rights in the United States, United Kingdom/Ireland and Australia/New Zealand regions. Dark Match was written and directed by Lowell Dean, and produced by John K. MacDonald, Don Depoe, Michael Feehan, Rhonda Baker and Michael Peterson. Jericho and Eleanor Wiebe are listed as executive producers.

Chris Jericho on the Terrifier franchise

Chris Jericho had a cameo role in Terrifier 2. He also has a larger role in Terrifier 3, which is in theatres now. Jericho told JoBlo Celebrity Interviews how he got involved in the franchise, and said he feels like he helped Terrifier 2 gain more traction.

“I was a big fan of the first movie,” Jericho said. “We discovered it on the Fozzy tour bus, and I was the first person that I knew was talking about it. So I was going on ‘Talk Is Jericho’, my podcast, and letting everybody know about this movie that you have to see. Then I did a comic con where David [Howard Thornton] was there, and he was on ‘Talk Is Jericho.’ That’s kind of how it all started. I was like, ‘You guys gotta watch this movie. ‘Terrifier’ this, ‘Terrifier’ that.’

“I’d like to think that I was part of the grassroots movement to turn people onto this film. Then once it became a talked-about cult hit, when Damien [Leone] started talking about doing part two, he asked me if I wanted to be involved, and I was like, ‘Of course. Just tell me what time and what mental institution in Staten Island I have to be at.’”
