Grade: A

This was an exciting way to start Raw. Reed’s path of destruction is well documented, but Rollins gave as good as he got tonight. This is a welcome change to kicking off Raw with your standard promo. After this brawl, how can you not be excited to see these two superstars clash?

Tag Team Championship No.1 Contender Tournament: Authors of Pain vs. The New Day

Kingston and Woods are in control early, landing some tandem offense. Rezar takes over after tossing Woods over the top. The Miz comes out to ringside to watch the match. After the break, Karrion Kross and Scarlett stand with Miz and watch the match. Back in the ring, Woods manages to tag in Kingston. Kingston clears the ring and calls for Trouble in Paradise after a boom drop. Rezar catches Kingston and hits a fallaway slam. R-Truth jumps the barricade and attacks Miz. Kross steps in and gets superkicked. In the confusion, Kingston rolls up Rezar for the win.

Winners- The New Day

After the match, The Final Testament attacks R-Truth. Kingston tries to help, but Woods holds him back. Woods tells Kingston this isn’t their fight. The lights go out, and when they return, the Wyatt Sicks surround the ring. Nikki Cross dives off the top onto Scarlett to start the brawl. The Miz drops to the mat and covers his head while everyone else is fighting. As the ring clears, Miz stands up, but Uncle Howdy appears behind him. Paul Ellering pushes Miz out of the way and gets put in the Mandible Claw.

Grade: C

… Didn’t have a tag match between New Day and The Authors of Pain, leading to a feud between the Wyatt Sicks and The Final Testament. This segment had too many moving parts, but seeing so many intersecting storylines is cool. The Final Testament has been floundering since its inception… Maybe the rub of a feud with a group as over as the Wyatt Sicks will be the thing to get them over the hump. Also, Paul Ellering finally did something besides stare menacingly at the camera, so there is that.

Damage CTRL vs. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez

Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend are at ringside watching to watch the match.

Sky and Sane are in control early. Morgan tags in Rodriguez. Sane and Sky double-team Rodriguez. Rodriguez misses a double elbow drop. After the break, Sane and Sky continue dominating Morgan and Rodriguez. The fight spills out of the ring. Lash Legend attacks Sky at ringside, causing a disqualification.

Winners- Damage CTRL

After the match, Legend and Jackson lay out Sky and Sane with their finishes. Morgan and Rodriguez get in the ring and face off with Jackson and Legend. Rhea Ripley’s music hits. Ripley swats Rodriguez like a fly, then bears down Morgan. Ripley tries Riptide, but Dominik Mysterio appears and pulls Morgan out of the ring. Ripley pulls Dominik into the ring and locks him in the Prism Trap. Rodriguez pulls Dominik out of the ring.

Rollins tries to speak to Adam Pearce backstage, but Reed attacks him. Both men are pulled apart. Peace screams that they would know he is giving them what they want if they had just asked. They have their match at Crown Jewel.

Grade: C-

Sky and Sane spent this match working around Rodriguez, who has the charisma and coordination of a wet paper bag. The inclusion of Jackson and Legend further proves the renewed investment in the women’s tag division. This is precisely what that division needs. Spotlight and crossover with the women’s division. This is how you gain interest. Ripley is always great, and watching her beat up Morgan and Dominik never gets old… but suffering through that match just to get to the dope segment after the match wasn’t worth it.

Tag Team Championship No.1 Contender Tournament: Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee vs. The Creed Brothers

Mysterio works over Julius. Julius deadlift suplexes Mysterio. Brutus and Julius take turns beating down Mysterio. Mysterio manages to tag in Lee. Lee clears the ring and lands a dive that takes out both Creeds. After the break, The Creeds are brutalizing Lee. Lee tags in Mysterio. Mysterio manages a near fall after a senton.

Mysterio tries a springboard but gets caught and slammed by Brutus. Brutus lands a second rope moonsault. Julius follows that with a top rope moonsault for a near fall. Outside the ring, Zelina Vega sends Ivy Nile flying with a rana. Back in the ring, Mysterio lands a 619 on Julius. Lee follows that with a splash for the win.

Winners- Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee

Grade: C

The winners here are never in doubt, and unless the match is a 10 out of 10, that will always take away from how much you can enjoy a match. The Creeds never had a shot here, and that speaks to how they have been booked since coming to the main roster. There is zero reason to take them seriously, which is a shame.

Backstage, Carlito asks Pearce to give Dominik Mysterio a title shot against Gunther. Pearce laughs and realizes that Carlito is serious. Pearce agrees to give Dominik a shot if he can beat a former world champion next week.

Backstage, Gunther says Cody Rhodes is just one of many people who have held the WWE Championship. Gunther is one of one. Damian Priest interrupts and tells Gunther he wants his title back. Priest doesn’t want a handout; he’ll earn his shot. Gunther tells Priest that’s good for him and walks away.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Jey Uso (c) vs. Bron Breakker

Breakker and Jey trade strikes. Jey knocks Breakker out of the ring. After the break, Breakker is working over Jey. Breakker gets a near fall after a standing moonsault. Jey lands a superkick and goes up top. Breakker cuts Jey off. Jey pushes Breakker to the mat. Breakker pops back up and sends Jey flying with a Frankensteiner. Jey kicks out. After the break, Jey counters a suplex with a Spear. Breakker kicks out. Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu appear in the crowd.

Sikoa is holding a Yeet shirt and tickets to the show. Sikoa says they are here to help Jey. Tama Tonga tries to help Jey, but Jey decks him. Sikoa and Jey argue. Breakker tries a super Spear, but Sikoa pushes Jey out of the way. Sikoa eats a Spear from Breakker. Fatu, who is still in the crowd, is NOT happy. Fatu hops the barricade. Breakker and Fatu go nose-to-nose.

Jey takes both men out with a dive. Jey lands a series of superkicks, followed by a Spear and a splash. Breakker somehow kicks out. Tonga and Loa hop up on the apron. Adam Pearce and security eject Loa and Tonga from ringside. Jey sets up a super spear out on the floor. Fatu breaks it up with a superkick. Fatu Samoan drops Jey on the commentary desk. Breakker hits a Super Spear for the win.

Winner and NEW Intercontinental Champion, Bron Breakker!

Grade: A

This match is the opposite of the LWO/Creed Brothers tag match. We all knew Jey would lose tongiht, but Breakker and Jey put on an exciting match that pulled you in and made you believe that Jey would retain. After the Bloodline’s interference didn’t work and Jey landed all those superkicks, a Spear, and a Uso Splash, even this writer thought it was over. The crowd popped hard as hell for that near fall. No matter how predictable, this match was engaging and fun.

WWE Raw Review:

There was a good amount of blah on this show. The insistence on featuring Raquel Rodriguez each week is getting to be a bit much. Hell, Lash Legend would be better in that spot. Legend is a believable badass that, when standing in front of Ripley, could believably hold her own. Rodriguez has spent the past two weeks getting knocked around by Ripley. How can anyone take Ripley’s literal punching bag seriously?

The highlight(s) of the night was the chaos between Rollins and Reed and the main event, which featured the continuation of the Bloodline story and the coronation of Bron Breakker. Jey HAS to get involved in the Bloodline Civil War now, and we are officially on the road to Survivor Series WarGames.
