Damian Priest: I Wanted My Name To Live Forever, I Think I’m Good

Damian Priest reflects on holding the World Heavyweight Championship and having his name in the history books.

At WWE WrestleMania 40, Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre and won the World Heavyweight Championship. He held the title until WWE SummerSlam, where Gunther dethroned him.

Speaking with Buster for Q102 Philly, Damian Priest was asked about having his name in the history books following his reign as the World Heavyweight Champion.

“It’s wild to me. It’s still one of those ‘I still can’t believe it’s real’ type of things,” Damian Priest said. “I can’t believe that actually happened. It’s still wild to me, the idea that I was World Champion, that I’m in the history books. You can’t take that away. It’s just one of those, I can’t believe this happened. Forever grateful. The idea that somebody years from now…it’s kind of another one of those, ‘I did it, I made it’ moments. Because since I started with WWE, my whole thing was ‘live forever’ because I wanted my name to live forever. I think I’m good [laughs].”
