Brody King discusses MVP joining AEW, and he comments on their relationship.
MVP made his AEW debut at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. He has been featured on AEW programming ever since, and he has been joined by Shelton Benjamin.
Speaking with Bill Apter for Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, Brody King was asked to comment on MVP joining AEW,
“If anybody knows my career, I’ve actually had a lot of history with MVP,” King said. “We wrestled at MLW. When I was on the indies, he was one of the first people to kind of take me under his wing. I would consider him a mentor, he gave me a lot of great advice when I was very young into the business that I still hold to today. So when I saw him show up in AEW, it was just as much of a surprise to me as it was to the audience.
“I walked right up to him after he was done and said, ‘Welcome to AEW. Glad you’re here,’ and gave him a hug and a handshake. You never know what’s down the line in pro wrestling. You never say never. But I think right now, my loyalty lies with the House of Black. The future, maybe MVP joins the House of Black. You never know.”
Brody King On MVP’s Background
King also highlighted MVP’s success outside of WWE and noted that MVP had a lot of knowledge. The former AEW World Trios Champion said that he hoped a lot of people, especially young talent, capitalized.
“He was the first IWGP Intercontinental Champion,” he said. “He did such big things in WWE. But I don’t know if a lot of people know what he did in Japan and on the independents after that. He was a veteran on the independents, and he was always someone that you could go to for advice, someone that you could look to, to be a locker room leader.
“But also, he had a huge time in Japan where he was very successful. He is a wealth of knowledge that I think a lot of people, especially the younger people in AEW that I hope use.”
