Mark Briscoe and The Butcher Get to Work

The opening match of the night sees Mark Briscoe going up against The Butcher. The match begins with both superstars back and forth grappling before Briscoe takes Butcher into the corner. After some in-ring action, Briscoe sends Butcher flying into the barricade outside of the ring, and lands some big hits outside of the ring while Butcher is dazed.

Back in the room, Briscoe is taking it to Butcher, who is clearly struggling, before Butcher is able to get something going. He flips the momentum with a few big hits before sending Briscoe into the corner. Butcher unleashes and delivers a few big slaps to the chest as we head to back. Back after break, Briscoe is able to get going again, and hits a big dropkick to stagger Butcher. He then shocks the audience by lifting up the behemoth to hit the Death Valley Driver, but misses a frog splash. Butcher uses the moment to catch Briscoe in a massive backbreaker, but Briscoe kicks out in a quick near fall.

With Briscoe dazed, Butcher tries to get him up on the top rope, but Briscoe is able to counter it, dropping Butcher with a few punches before hitting the frog splash for the win.

Winner – Mark Briscoe

Grade: B

The match was a pretty solid opener, and it’s fun to see Briscoe always giving his all in a match.

Kyle O’Reilly Dominates

Kyle O’Reilly is taking on Aaron Solo here. O’Reilly and the local talent grapple and trade submissions for a bit, but eventually O’Reilly begins to take control. He’s mostly treating this like an exhibition match before Solo gets a surprising drop on O’Reilly, then takes him to the corner and lands a few flurry of punches, and even scores a quick near fall for a one-count.

Solo began to get the crowd’s attention, and with people chanting his name, he got in a few more punches before O’Reilly decided to get serious. O’Reilly eventually ended things with a few more punches and kicks before locking in a headlock on Solo to force him to tap out.

Winner – Kyle O’Reilly

After the match, O’Reilly called out Kazuchika Okada for a match at AEW Battle of the Belts XII for the AEW Continental Championship.

Grade: C

The match between O’Reilly and Okada should be a lot of fun, but this one was not. It was nice to see Solo win over the crowd for a bit, though.

Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie Talk About Loyalty

Backstage, Deonna Purrazoo and Taya Valkyrie once again talk about their loyalty and how important it is to take care of people. The duo says that when you want to hurt someone, you have to go to the people that they care most about, and if anyone dares to go against Purrazzo and Valkyrie, they’ll have a grudge.

Anna Jay and Trish Adora Go At It

The next match up is Anna Jay and Trish Adora. With Mariah May on for commentary, Jay went after it early on. She was able to hit Adora with her butt for a hit, then threw her down with a big shoulder check. Jay continued to make short work of Adora, all the while taunting May in the ring. In the end, Jay hit a backstabber and then hit her finisher for the pin and win.

Winner – Anna Jay

Grade: C

Another match that mostly didn’t amount to too much. Jay winning and showboating was fun, though, and her and May’s feud continues to grow into a good one.

Private Party And MxM Collection Face Off

The final match of the show sees Private Party and MxM Collection facing off. This was a fun one, but got even more chaotic at the end. Late in the match, Mansoor hit a big powerbomb on Marq Quen for a near fall, and then tried to lock in a full nelson that Quen was able to get out of. After hitting a Death Valley Driver on the superstar, Madden then hit Isiah Kassidy for another near fall. Unfortunately for MxM, that’s where their luck would run out. The end of the match saw Private Party get some Silly String going, then hit the Young Bucks’ More Bang for Your Buck move on Mansoor for the win.

Winners – Private Party

Grade: B

This one was fun! A solid end to the show between two groups that continue to be some of the most fun feuding teams in All Elite Wrestling.

AEW Rampage Review

Grade: B-

All in all, not the worst show here. Some fun matches (namely Private Party/MxM Collection), but nothing too much to write home about when all is said and done. The biggest thing to come from the show is probably the continued feud between Anna Jay and Mariah May.
