Matt Cardona is proud of Chelsea Green‘s success in WWE.
Green returned to WWE in January 2023, and she has had a successful run ever since. She has won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, and she recently competed in a Dumpster Match.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Chelsea Green’s husband Matt Cardona was asked to discuss the work she has been doing.
“Oh my god, when she made her return and she was in the Royal Rumble, I think she was in for like four or five seconds, and I saw the social media response. They were like, ‘She’s getting buried.’ I was thinking, you idiots, you don’t realize, everyone’s talking about her. Chelsea gets it. She knows what it’s all about. It’s not about the moves, it’s about the moments. Every second she’s on television, she makes people remember her, and now she’s letting people remember that she can actually wrestle. She can actually do some crazy stuff.
“She did, this wasn’t even on television, she did it during the commercial break, which I think she’s crazy for doing, she did the coast to coast dropkick. I’m like, how do you do that during the commercial? But she can go in the ring, she’s very entertaining. I think she’s the complete female competitor. So it makes sense that she’s married to me, The Complete Matt Cardona. I’m super proud of all of her success. I’m super proud of her.”
Matt Cardona On Chelsea Green’s Crowd Reactions
Matt Cardona also commented on the crowd reactions that Chelsea Green has been getting. He shared his belief that the fans will help organically turn Green into a babyface.
“The fans, they’re not stupid. It’s 2024,” Cardona said. “They see how good she is, they see how entertaining she is, they see how hard she works. I think she’s gonna be a situation where the fans turn her. It’s not gonna be some storyline turn. It’s just organically gonna happen, and the fans are…they’re already cheering for her, but I think it’s gonna become so much more obvious.”
