TNA iMPACT Results
This week’s episode of TNA iMPACT kicks off with a recap of last week’s show.
Pick Your Poison Match: Rhino vs. PCO
The closing moments of the match saw PCO hit the PCO-sault on Rhino to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: PCO
Grade: C
It was a hardcore match in slow motion. I like both of these guys, but they shouldn’t be facing off against each other in 2024. They are both on the slower side and need a faster opponent right now to make their matches work.
Nic Nemeth wants to be a fighting champion
Nic Nemeth is backstage and he’s very excited about facing Matt Cardona later on tonight and facing Joe Hendry later this month at Bound For Glory. Nemeth explains why Santino wouldn’t allow him to put his title on the line tonight against Cardona. Nemeth says Cardona used to be something special, but tonight he’s gonna do what he does best… steal the show and beat Matt Cardona.
Ash by Elegance vs. Brinley Reece
The closing moments of this match saw Ash by Elegance hit Brinley Reece with Rarified Air to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Ash by Elegance
Grade: B-
The match was fine. Nothing that would blow anyone away. A perfectly acceptable match for a weekly episode of iMPACT.
After the match, Xia Brookside came to the rescue of Brinley Reese who was being humiliated by Ash by putting lipstick on her face.
A vignette airs for Rosemary and Wendy Choo.
Speedball puts the X-Division Championship on the line
TNA X-Division Championship: Speedball Mike Bailey (c) vs. Leon Slater
The closing moments of the match saw Mike Bailey hit Ultima Weapon followed by the Flamingo Driver to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Still X-Division Champion, Speedball Mike Bailey
Grade: A
Excellent match. Speedball and Slater work very well together. I can only imagine we won’t have to wait very long to see a rematch between these two talented athletes. I will be shocked if Slater isn’t a future X-Division Champion.
A new challenger emerges for Speedball
A video package plays to announce that El Hijo Del Vikingo will challenge Speedball Mike Bailey for the X-Division Championship at Bound For Glory.
ABC and The Hardys are backstage. Ace Austin says The Hardys made him want to be a wrestler but he knows when he has to stand across against The Hardys he has to turn that off. It’s announced that ABC and The Hardys will take on The System next week.
The Hardys put over their upcoming Full Metal Mayhem match at Bound For Glory later this month. ABC says Motor City Machine Guns didn’t want to pass the torch so they had to take it, and if they have to they’ll do it again at the pay-per-view.
Steve Maclin calls out Josh Alexander
Steve Maclin makes his way to the ring and is upset that Eric Young was taken out last week. Maclin calls out Josh Alexander looking for answers. Josh Alexander comes out with the Northern Armory and says he has questions for him. Alexander says Maclin is one of the biggest scumbags this company has ever seen and he wants to know the real reason for his change of heart.
Steve Maclin says he’s been himself since day one when he got here. Maclin says if anyone was gonna give a damn about him it was Alexander and says he was the first person who came to him and said he wasn’t an outsider and that he belonged here. Maclin says at one point he thought the two of them were alike, but that’s no longer the case.
Josh Alexander agrees and says they are nothing alike. Maclin tries to take on all three men at once but the numbers game catches up with him quickly. Alexander finishes things by giving Maclin the C4 Spike.
Santino Marella and Arianna Grace are backstage discussing the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match at Bound For Glory. Frankie Kazarian interrupts and tells Santino he better make sure he’s in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match at the pay-per-view. Marella says Kaz can’t talk to him like that. Grace says Kaz is rude.
Mike Santana doesn’t feel like wrestling tonight
Brian Myers vs. Mike Santana
The match never got underway as Mike Santana attacked Brian Myers with a steel chain. Eddie Edwards and JDC come out and get laid out as well. Santana hits Myers with Spin the Block with the chain wrapped around his arm.
Winner: No Contest
Mike Santana calls out Moose but he doesn’t come out. Santana says he’ll come to him and heads backstage, but Moose gets him from behind backstage with a baseball bat.
Grade: B+
Fun advancement of the story between Mike Santana and Moose. Santana needs a big win at Bound For Glory and I can’t think of anyone better than Moose to be the one to fit the bill. Santana has a legitimate shot at being TNA World Champion at some point in 2025 if they don’t drop the ball on him.
Jordynne Grace and Masha Slamovich have a face-to-face backstage ahead of their Knockouts Championship match at Bound For Glory. You can check out this back-and-forth in the embedded video below.
Frankie Kazarian joins the commentary team for the main event.
Pick Your Poison Match: TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth vs. Matt Cardona
The closing moments of the match saw a distraction from PCO that allowed Nic Nemeth to hit Danger Zone on Matt Cardona to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Nic Nemeth
PCO carries Matt Cardona out of the arena and Kazarian attacks Nemeth from behind in the ring. Joe Hendry hits the ring as he and Nemeth take care of Kazarian. Frankie Kazarian announces he will be the special guest referee for the main event of Bound For Glory as TNA iMPACT goes off the air.
TNA iMPACT Review
A solid show from TNA tonight. The standout was clearly Speedball’s match with Leon Slater. And honestly, you can never go wrong with a main event between Nic Nemeth and Matt Cardona. A fun episode of iMPACT overall on the road to Bound For Glory.
Grade: B-
