Report: Update On Bryan Danielson’s Future After Loss At AEW WrestleDream

A new report provides an update on Bryan Danielson‘s future after he lost the AEW World Championship at AEW WrestleDream.

Danielson previously made it clear that 2024 would be his last year as a full-time wrestler. He then won the AEW World Championship at AEW All In. Danielson went on to say that he would not retire while he held the title. Jon Moxley dethroned him at AEW WrestleDream, and the Blackpool Combat Club brutally attacked Danielson after the match.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Bryan Danielson’s full-time wrestling career is effectively over, and sources indicated that he specifically wanted to lose to Moxley to end that run.

In recent months, Danielson had been quite banged up, and doctors did not allow him to compete in Blood and Guts. However, he was cleared for standard matches. Per Sapp, Danielson’s comments about needing neck surgery were true, and he had even thought that maybe he should not have done some of the matches leading up to AEW WrestleDream.

Update On Bryan Danielson’s Contract Status

Danielson previously said that his AEW talent contract expired on August 1, and he was working without one. Sapp writes that Danielson is effectively a free agent, as he has no further obligations.

The report notes that the hope in AEW is that Danielson will periodically wrestle for them and resume additional duties when he is ready.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
