AJ Styles Responds To Fan Claiming Injury Is Fake

AJ Styles has set the record straight about his recent injury.

The former WWE Champion returned to the ring for the first time since June on October 4. His appearance on Smackdown was well-received by fans, and was supposed to start a retirement storyline for AJ Styles.

However, disaster struck in his first match back on WWE SmackDown. AJ Styles was reported to have suffered a “mid-foot ligament sprain” in a match with Carmelo Hayes. This put his comeback storyline on hold, as fans worried about the career of AJ Styles ending here and now.

However, some were skeptical about the injury being legitimate. One user claimed he didn’t “buy it”, claiming that Styles wasn’t actually injured. AJ Styles responded on Twitter to the man, revealing he had a “Lisfranc injury” (sometimes called a Lisfranc fracture). He added that he thought he’d have a bone sticking out of his foot when he took his boot off after the match.

“It’s called a Lisfranc injury. Look it up, it sucks! I thought when I took off my boot. I would have a bone sticking out of my foot.” AJ Styles said.

Another user commented that AJ Styles suffered the same injury former Carolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton suffered in 2019. Styles confirmed this, while also saying that he is “cooked”, putting his future in doubt.

“Bingo, as the kids say….I’m cooked,” AJ Styles replied on Twitter.

The original poster who questioned the legitimacy of the injury later apologized to AJ Styles and said he mean any disrespect, he just didn’t want it to be true. Styles said “No worries” and just wanted to give everyone an update about where he’s at.
