Jinder Mahal: The WWE 24/7 Title Was Initially A Letdown, Then I Made The Best Of It And Had Fun

Jinder Mahal lifted the lid on his hilarious WWE 24/7 Championship title moments.

The former WWE Champion was in the thick of the 24/7 division since it was established in 2019. He became a two-time champion, fighting for the title on places like planes, airports and golf courses.

Jinder Mahal spoke with Straight Talk Wrestling, where he discussed his time wrestling for the 24/7 Championship in the WWE.

“It was an on-the-fly moment—just someone thinking, ‘Hey, we should do it here or there.’ We were flying to Saudi Arabia, and I was actually sleeping when one of the producers came up to me like, ‘Hey, we’re going to film this right now.’ They filmed it on a cell phone—me winning the championship on the tarmac and then losing it in my sleep.

The day I won and lost it on a golf course, we had just landed for a live event, and I got a text from Adam Pierce saying, ‘Hey, we’ve got to go to this golf course to film this 24/7 skit right before the show.’ It was just spur-of-the-moment. It was a fun time, a fun experience.

Jinder Mahal: 24/7 Title Was Originally A Let Down

Jinder Mahal continued. He spoke about his favorite 24/7 title moment, while explaining how being involved with it originally was a let down for the former WWE Champion.

“My favorite one was looking for R-Truth backstage, and he hides in a trunk—one of those road cases—and then gets shipped to the next city. That was quite fun filming backstage. Originally, I was a little let down because it was after I was WWE Champion, and I wasn’t really doing much. Then I thought, ‘You know what? I’m going to make the best of it, make memorable moments, and have fun,’ and that’s exactly what we did. It ended up being pretty cool, especially with R-Truth.”

“A lot of people got to hold a championship in WWE because of that 24/7 Championship. For instance, the Singh Brothers—forever in history, they are champions in WWE because of that title. It gave a lot of guys something to do, something to remember, and it gave the fans something to remember for a long time. I think it was very cool.”
