The Miz explains his actions.
Last week marked the in-ring return of R-Truth, who was previously taken out by six Tsunamis from Bronson Reed. Unfortunately for Truth, he was taken out again on this night, this time by the hands of his own tag team partner, The Miz. In a WWE Raw Exclusive, Miz explained why he betrayed Truth during their tag match last week, and subsequently called for a match against him next week.
In short, Miz is tired.
“Why a match [against Truth]? Because I am put in random match after random match after random match with no notification. So why not just do a random match with R-Truth, so I can get away from him,” Miz said. “I love R- Truth, I think everyone loves R- Truth. Everyone has a soft spot in their heart for R- Truth, but I am just, I am here with everything. It’s fun to watch. It is fun and entertaining to watch, but to actually have to live through it, think about what I have to go through to live through and be a tag team partner with R- Truth.
“Is it good to have confusion in a tag team? It helped in the beginning because it was fun, we could play off of each other. We were winning, we were doing things, then when we got the titles, he would just put us in random matches, I would tell him not to. ‘Please stop, please stop doing that, Truth, please stop,’ and he just wouldn’t. Then he goes out and gets injured. What happens when he gets injured? He goes away, I’m still here. I try to be the hero, if you will, to go after the guy that injured him. And what happens when truth comes back? Truth just says, ‘Well, I’m back.’ Why didn’t you call me? Why didn’t you tell me, ‘How have you been? Hello, friend.’ Then he puts us in another random match. I am sick of it, I’m tired, I’m tired.”
Miz and R-Truth reunited at the beginning of this year as the latter attempted to gain favor with The Judgment Day. While the Judgment Day ultimately rejected Truth’s entry into their group, he and Miz later captured the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships (since renamed WWE World Tag Team Championships) at WrestleMania 40. Their reign spanned 79 days until Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh defeated them for the titles.
