Cody Rhodes Highlights The Message His Football Field Face Off With Roman Reigns Conveyed

A couple of weeks ago, the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes and The Original Tribal Chief Roman Reigns had a face-to-face at Georgia Tech University. The two discussed what they wanted from each other for their tag team match at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event.

Recently, Cody Rhodes was a special guest on the Pat McAfee Show. During the interview, Rhodes shared what the face-off truly conveyed to the audience.

“You’re looking at Alabama. You are looking at Georgia. You’re talking about Roman Reigns, you are talking about myself. Walking into Bobby Dodd on that field and just being on that campus, I grew up in Georgia. I knew every inch of that state. But that’s one place I don’t know very well. Because that is where smart people went to school… We didn’t shake [hands.] We didn’t shake, we agreed…

“You [Pat McAfee] being such a wrestling fan yourself, a wrestler yourself. Again, legend of the NXT Black and Gold era. You know there is always the, ‘Can they coexist?’ things when you get the odd couple tag teams. ‘Who’s going to turn on who?’ Whatever it may be. This was a good way of setting up, ‘That’s not what this match is about.’ We’ve agreed to coexist… We did not need to shake and I wish people could have been on the ground there in Bobby Dodd to see.”

Cody Rhodes would have preferred a live audience to be present at the Georgia Tech Stadium to see how real it truly was

During the same interview, The American Nightmare mentioned that he would have loved fans to be at Georgia Tech Stadium to understand and feel how real that segment was.

“There’s a suspension of disbelief in sports entertainment, but I wish they could have been there to see how real it really is with myself and my tag team partner at Bad Blood. We stood on opposite sides of the field for all of the pre-shoot as they were getting the lights and everything ready. No discussion whatsoever. No awareness of what the other might say to the other. And we just walked across the field, met at the 50, ran it straight through, and hats off to Mr. Heyman, JB, and Rob Fee because they put this thing together in such a cinematic way. Should have got credits. It was really… Yeah, Adam Panucci in the office really came out unique,” Rhodes said.
