CM Punk Wants Hell In A Cell To Have Meaning, Bring It Back To ‘What It’s Supposed To Be’

CM Punk wants to bring meaning back to Hell in a Cell.

The former WWE Champion will step into the cell for the first time since 2013 at Bad Blood on Sunday. It will be the culmination of a ten-month rivalry with Drew McIntyre. This has seen them stoop to untold depths to inflict misery on one another.

CM Punk appeared on the first episode of No-Contest Wrestling, and spoke about his upcoming Hell in a Cell match. He noted he is mentally prepared for the match.

However, the former WWE and AEW Champion also wants to bring back meaning to the stipulation. Additionally, CM Punk feels like he and Drew have done enough to warrant having their match inside the Hell in a Cell.

CM Punk wants a match that needs the Cell

“I’m mentally prepared,” CM Punk said. “I know what I have to do. It’s a high-pressure situation, and I feel like I have to deliver a classic. I have to stay true to myself and my beliefs about what good wrestling is, and that Hell in a Cell.

“I feel like, as a company, we’ve gotten away from it for so long. It became a toy, like, ‘We’re just going to have a pay-per-view, call it Hell in a Cell, and everyone’s going to go inside and have matches.’ When in reality, that should be presented as the most dangerous, diabolical thing any wrestler would ever want to do.

“In a capitalist country, you get away with it, you know, you get away from it. So I want to bring it back to what it’s supposed to be. I don’t want to have a Cell that needs a match—I want to have a match that needs the Cell. And I feel like me and Drew have done that. There’s no other way to settle this.”
