Our AEW Dynamite results for tonight include a title-for-title match between Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay defending the International Championship against Ricochet, and Britt Baker making her return to take on Serena Deeb. Plus, Hangman Page will be in action taking on Juice Robinson.

AEW Dynamite Results
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with the PAC and Claudio Castagnoli asking for Wheeler Yuta to come home to them. Jon Moxley says he’s going to allow Bryan Danielson to go out on his shield in his hometown. Moxley says on October 12 he will officially relieve Danielson of duty and he’s sending Daddy home for good.
Will Ospreay (c) vs. Ricochet for the AEW International Championship
The closing moments of the match saw dueling poisionranas from both Ospreay and Ricochet. Ospreay managed to hit the Hidden Blade and went for the cover but his shoulders were on the mat. Rick Knox counts both men’s shoulders down.
Winner: A draw
The crowd is not happy and Justin Roberts announces that Tony Khan has informed him that this match will continue.
The match barely gets back underway before Konosuke Takeshita hits the ring and attacks Will Ospreay leading to a disqualification. Takeshita attacks Ricochet as well.
Winner: Will Ospreay retains via disqualification
Grade: B+
Hard to give the match any higher than this with the back-to-back bad finishes the match had. The match itself was incredible and had they given a better better the match would have easily gotten an A. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. A rough creative decision to kick off tonight’s show in my opinion.
Mercedes Moné in the Hurt Syndicate?
Mercedes Moné and Kamille are backstage talking about 5 years of AEW Dynamite. Moné airs of music video of everything she’s done since debuting for the company. MVP approaches Mercedes and gives her his business card.
The Gunns are backstage cutting a promo and are attacked by Hangman Page with a steel chair. Page takes both Gunns out before his match with Juice Robinson later on tonight.
It’s more TV Time for Chris Jericho
Big Bill is in the ring and introduces Chris Jericho. Bryan Keith and Chris Jericho come to the ring. Jericho congratulates everyone on five years of Dynamite and the new TV deal they signed today. Jericho says they made a lot of experts look like idiots. Chris says that the new TV deal wouldn’t have happened without him so thank him for that.
Chris Jericho says he’s celebrating 34 years as a performer and pretends to forget what city he’s in and says Philadelphia instead of Pittsburgh. Jericho says he recently realized that he wants a new era of Jericho and he wants another championship. Jericho challenges Mark Briscoe to a match for the Ring of Honor World Championship at WrestleDream.
Mark Briscoe doesn’t back down from a challenge
The Conglomeration come out and make their way to the ring. Mark Briscoe says his dad brought him up to behave like men and that means not to make excuses. Briscoe says he could say he had Jericho beat in New York and the only way he beat him last week was because Big Bill chokeslammed him through a table and Jericho just rolled over on top of him. Briscoe says he won’t make that excuse because it was a tornado tag.
Mark Briscoe says he’s gonna call Chris Jericho what he is, one of the finest professional wrestlers on the planet. Briscoe says that works out good for him that he pinned him in New York City because he would love to defend and defeat Jericho for the Ring of Honor Title. Chris Jericho says he doesn’t think Mark can beat him, but maybe his brother Jay could have.
Jericho says Mark will never be as good as Jay was. Briscoe responds by decking Jericho and laying him out. Briscoe says to take his brother’s name out of his mouth and he accepts his challenge for WrestleDream.
Grade: C
The Learning Tree stuff is so tired at this point. If it wasn’t for Mark Briscoe’s promo this segment would have been graded much lower. The implication that Mark will never be as good as Jay should be all the motivation Mark needs to have a defining win at WrestleDream. The last thing we need right now is another Chris Jericho title reign.
Can Darby Allin be the face of AEW?
Darby Allin cuts a promo from what appears to be a junkyard. Allin tells a story about three people bullying him on a bus when he was younger. Allin says it felt good to do something about it. Darby says when Moxley told him he wasn’t ready to be the face of AEW all he could think about were those three guys on the bus.
Allin says he put everything on the line and he lost, he says he wants to be the face of the company but worries people are starting to lose faith in him. Allin says he will be at WrestleDream and he’s issuing an open challenge because at this point he has nothing left to lose.
Hangman Page and Juice Robinson brawl on AEW Dynamite
Juice Robinson vs. Hangman Page
The closing moments of the match saw Hangman Page get tangled up with Aubrey Edwards, which allowed him to hit a low blow on Juice Robinson. Page followed it up with a Buckshot Lariat to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Hangman Page
Page continues to attack Robinson after the match and wraps the strap around his neck to choke him. This brings the surprise return of Jay White to save the day and attacks Page. The two men brawl into the crowd and White spears Page through a table.
Grade: B
Damn good match. Hangman and Robinson work really well together. The brawl around the arena before the match officially began was a nice touch. The surprise return of Jay White was the icing on the cake.
Jack Perry arrives at AEW Dynamite
Renee Paquette is backstage as Jack Perry arrives on his bus. Perry is immediately confronted by Katsuyori Shibata who challenges him to a TNT Title match at WrestleDream. Perry says he’ll think about it and walks away. Shibata lets his guard down and Perry returns to attack him and lays him out. Perry says he accepts Shibata’s challenge.
Bryan Danielson is backstage. Danielson says the only sentence running through his mind all day is f*ck Jon Moxley. Bryan says no matter how much Moxley wants this to be about him, it’s about the AEW World Championship. Danielson explains why he challenged Kazuchika Okada tonight and said this is for AEW.
A hometown advantage for Britt Baker in Pittsburgh
Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. vs. Serena Deeb
The closing moments of the match saw Britt Baker hit an Avalanche Air Raid Crash, but Deeb kicked out. Baker applies Lockjaw and forces Deeb to tap out.
Winner: Britt Baker
Serena Deeb attacks Baker after the match but she’s quickly saved by Queen Aminata.
Grade: B-
Good match between Baker and Deeb. Baker looked to be more comfortable back in the ring tonight in her hometown than she’s looked in a while. With Mariah May watching the match from ringside, it appears Baker might be her next challenger. It also lets us know that the feud between Deeb and Aminata is far from done.
HOOK is coming for whoever attacked his father Taz earlier today
HOOK is backstage with Renee Paquette and he’s very upset about his father being attacked in the parking lot earlier today and promises when he finds out who attacked him he’s coming for revenge.
Mariah May has words for Willow Nightingale
Mariah May is backstage having a lot of unkind things to say about Willow Nightingale. Nightingale shows up and the two women brawl before being separated by security.
Private Party vs. Iron Savages (w/ Jacked Jameson)
A quick squash match that sees Private Party hit Gin and Juice to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Private Party
Isiah Kassidy says when they first walked into Dynamite this year they said new year, new champs and he meant every word. Kassidy says they will be your next AEW World Tag Team Champions. Kassidy says he hopes the Young Bucks are listening because they beat them once and they know they can beat them again. They challenge Matthew and Nicholas to a match right now.
The Young Bucks are on the stage and Nicholas Jackson says you can’t have an anniversary show without the two people who built this company. Matthew says Private Party seems overly confident so why don’t they test this and tease doing a match before changing their minds.
Jack Perry attacks Private Party from behind and Matthew and Nicholas join in. Katsuyori Shibata hits the ring and The Elite scatters. Christopher Daniels comes out and announces a trios match between The Elite and the team of Private Party and Katsuyori Shibata Friday night on Rampage.
Grade: C+
This was fine I suppose? I don’t really think it was needed on this show. It’s good to have the Young Bucks on the anniversary show, but the on-again and off-again rivalry between Private Party and the Bucks is kinda tired. If this actually results in a true push for Private Party I’ll eat my words but I just don’t see it.
Shelton Benjamin arrives in All Elite Wrestling
MVP is backstage with Renee Paquette and is ready to make his announcement, but before he can he’s interrupted by Prince Nana. Nana says he didn’t like how MVP talked to him last week and offers to put on the wrestling boots and face him tonight. MVP says he doesn’t deal with complaints but his associate does and introduces Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin drinks Nana’s coffee and the two men leave Nana steaming angry.
Title for Title in the main event of AEW Dynamite (for the first 20 minutes)
AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson vs. AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada
The closing moments of the match saw Kazuchika Okada hit the Busaiku Knee on Danielson, while Bryan Danielson hit Okada with the Rainmaker, and both men kicked out. Okada gets in full control late but Claudio Castagnoli and PAC arrive in the crowd and distract Okada letting Danielson get him with a backslide to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Bryan Danielson retains the AEW World Championship
Castagnoli and PAC hit the ring and hold down Danielson as Jon Moxley arrives. Moxley says this isn’t about him, and he’s doing it because he needs to because no one else will. Wheeler Yuta hits the ring with a hammer to save Danielson and scare everyone off but Moxley.
Moxley dares Yuta to hit him with the hammer and Danielson attacks Moxley. Danielson and Yuta win the battle. Yuta says he’s sick and tired of Claudio and PAC treating him like a child and says he’s his own man and he can make his own decisions and fight his own fights. Yuta says next week at Title Tuesday if they want to get to Danielson they’re gonna have to get through him too. A tag match is set up for next week to close the show.
Grade: A
How could ask for anything more than what these two incredible athletes gave you tonight? Danielson and Okada put on a clinic together likely for the last time. This was a great trilogy of matches and I would argue that we could say they saved the best for last if not for the finish. Despite that, it was an incredible way to cap off this show. The aftermath helped advance the story heading into WrestleDream as Yuta firmly aligns with Danielson.
AEW Dynamite Review
Grade: A-
Hot off the heels of their newly announced media rights deal, Tony Khan decided to pull out all of the stops for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite. If not for the finish of the opener, it would be incredibly hard for me to not deem this week a perfect episode of Dynamite. It really was a great mix of action, returns, debuts, and advancing stories heading into WrestleDream. Really great stuff from AEW tonight.
