Cora Jade is back, as she made her return on WWE NXT.
The October 1 episode of WWE NXT marked the brand’s CW Network premiere, and it began with a buzzworthy bout. Roxanne Perez defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Giulia, who had set her sights on Perez upon her debut at NXT No Mercy.
Perez and Giulia battled back and forth in a thrilling match. In the closing moments, Giulia was seemingly on the verge of victory when a hooded individual ran in and attacked Giulia. Perez capitalized and hit Pop Rox to clinch the victory and the successful defense. The hooded individual then revealed herself to be Cora Jade.
Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our WWE NXT play-by-play coverage:
Giulia pulls Perez under the bottom rope and hits a Northern Lights bomb on the floor. Perez and Giulia are both almost counted out. As the referee is distracted, Someone in a hood runs down to the ring and DDTs Giulia on the floor. The hooded person tosses Giulia back into the ring. Perez hits Pop Rocks for the win. The invader takes off their hood. It’s Cora Jade.
Jade had been sidelined with a torn ACL since January. She suffered the injury at a live event on January 12, and she later had surgery. Perez and Jade are former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions together. They also had a heated rivalry after Jade turned on Perez.
Update: Jade later commented on her return backstage. She told Perez that she liked the woman she had become. Perez noted that a common enemy could potentially bring them together.
