JBL has commented on the chance of becoming MJF‘s manager in AEW going forward.
The former WWE Champion has been making some strides to working outside the WWE in recent months. JBL has appeared in GCW, AAA and TNA recently, receiving huge ovations from the crowds each time.
In TNA and AAA, JBL helped Nic Nemeth to win world titles. Following MJF’s defeat to Will Ospreay at Wembley Stadium, a partnership with the wrestler could be just what he needs to get back to winning ways.
JBL appeared on a Q&A session for Sportskeeda. The WWE Hall of Famer was asked if he would manage MJF. JBL revealed that he’s a big fan of the former AEW Champion, calling him “smart” and “sharp”.
However, MJF looks set for a career in Hollywood. He recently secured a roll in Happy Gilmore 2, so probably doesn’t need JBL in his corner.
“I don’t know, it’s a great question. I’m a big fan of MJF. I met him in England one time. And I’ve told this story a few times. I got to ride to the airport with him and spent part of the day with him because we were both at a signing. I’m a big fan of his—he’s a really smart and sharp guy, and I think he’s a great talent.”
“One thing I love about guys like him is the shape they get into. Look at Randy Orton right now; he’s changed his character by getting in incredible shape. MJF is in incredible shape right now, too, which tells me something. I have no idea about working or wrestling with him, but he’s in a different place now. Sounds like he’s about to be a movie star—he just got a role in Happy Gilmore or something.”
