Stephanie McMahon realizes that some of the things Vince McMahon asked her to do were a bit weird.
In November 1999, Stephanie McMahon was supposed to marry Test, live on TV. However, they were interrupted by Triple H, who revealed he had drugged and married Stephanie in a drive-through wedding in Las Vegas.
It was later revealed that Stephanie McMahon was in on it, and was conscious for the wedding. This turned the crowd against her, beginning a now-iconic heel run for the Billion Dollar Princess.
Stephanie McMahon, Vince McMahon and Triple H all spoke about the infamous drive-through marriage angle on the Mr McMahon Netflix documentary (H/T to Fightful for the transcription).
Triple H noted that after the angle, the whole crowd chanted “slut” towards Stephanie McMahon. Unlike most fathers, Vince McMahon rubbed his hands together, pleased at the response.
“The first time we go back on TV after this whole angle happens, the crowd turns on her and they’re chanting “Slut.” Vince, as they’re going crazy for her, he looks at me and he goes [Rubs fingers together] Meaning, ‘This is money,'”
Stephanie McMahon Became A Great Heel, Vince McMahon Said
Vince McMahon jumped in next, saying he had a big smile on his face watching all of this go down. He called her a “great heel”, because she was willing to do anything to get a great reaction. This included being forcefully married on TV, being mocked for her breast enhancement and various other embarrassing moments in Stephanie McMahon’s career.
“I’ve got a big smile on my face because that means the audience is participating. Anytime the audience is participating, they’re loving what it is you’re doing. Steph became this great heel. She was willing to do anything. She’s always been, ‘Whatever you want, dad.’ She knows what it is I’m trying to do.”
Stephanie McMahon Said It Was Weird, But A Different Time
Next, Stephanie McMahon spoke about some of the things she did when she was younger. She said that couldn’t believe of the stuff that Vince McMahon convinced her to do.
She added that it was “a little bit weird”, some of the things that her father had her do in the ring. However, she hand-waved it as a “different time in our business”, and doesn’t seem too bothered by it.
“When I was younger in my career, I was all on board to do whatever he wanted. I look back on some of the stuff I did and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I did that.’ Yeah, for sure.”
“Yeah, sometimes, I thought it was a little bit weird, but it was a different time in our business.”
