The FTW Championship has been retired.
At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, HOOK defeated Roderick Strong to retain the FTW Championship. After the bell, Tony Schiavone interviewed HOOK, who thanked the fans and all the wrestlers who had held the FTW Championship. He then announced that the FTW Championship had been retired. HOOK handed the title to his father, AEW commentator Taz, and they embraced.
ECW introduced the FTW Championship in 1998. Taz created the title and held it during his title with the company. The FTW Championship came to AEW after Taz joined the company. Taz reinstated the title when Jon Moxley missed a world title match after he came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
HOOK was in his third reign with the title; he beat Chris Jericho to win the gold at AEW All In. During the title’s time in AEW, Cage, Ricky Starks, Jack Perry, and Chris Jericho also won the championship.
