Deonna Purrazzo wants to be a champion in AEW and help grow the women’s division.
The former TNA Knockouts Champion has been featured regularly since debuting in AEW in January this year. She has been engaged in feuds with AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm, as well as with Thunder Rosa.
Additionally, she beat the latter woman numerous times in their rivalry, coming out of it looking unstoppable.
Deonna Purrazzo spoke with The Wrestling Classic, where she was asked about her future goals in AEW. She revealed that she wants to take the AEW Women’s Championship from Mariah May, warning the current champion.
The Virtuosa added that she wanted to help grow the women’s division to a “main event caliber”. Purrazzo has an ultimate goal to help women thrive and get higher positions on the card.
“Of course, I want to become a world champion there.” Purrazzo said. “I was kind of screwed out of the AEW Women’s World Championship earlier this year. Mariah May, I’m coming for you. But we’ve seen so many strides in our Women’s Division. I think ultimately, at the end of the day, championship or not, the goal is to continue to grow the division to be Main Event caliber.”
“To show that women deserve more opportunities, that women are worthy of Main Event situations—that’s the ultimate goal for me. AEW is only five years old, so there’s so much more growing that we’re going to do in the next year, and think about the next five years. To continue creating situations where women can thrive and tell stories that prove they deserve higher positions on the card—that’s my ultimate goal, in any company that I’m in.”
