The Rock Wanted Salmon Strips Instead Of Wings On ‘Hot Ones’

The Rock had an unusual request when asked to appear on Hot Ones.

The show, which is hosted by Sean Evans, is one of the most popular sit-down interview series on the planet. Each episode draws millions of viewers, who want to see various celebrities eating increasingly spicy chicken wings. This often leads to hilarious moments of guests struggling to speak as the heat gets too much for them.

Celebrities like Conan O’Brien, Gordon Ramsay and Paul Rudd have taken the challenge while speaking with Sean Evans about their lives and careers. Wrestlers like Mick Foley, Steve Austin and The Undertaker have also made appearances.

However, one name that is missing so far is The Rock. The WWE Champion-turned-Hollywood star has been absent from the show. However, that is not through a lack of action on the show’s part.

Sean Evans recently spoke with Bloomberg recently. The Hot Ones host revealed the show had been trying to get The Rock to appear on it for years.

However, Evans noted that the one time he got a response, The Rock (or someone from his team) bizarrely asked for grilled salmon strips instead of chicken wings. This was the closest Evans got to securing The Rock’s appearance, which fell through.

“We’ve been pitching [The Rock] obviously for years.” Sean Evans told Bloomberg. “And one time I got a note back that was like, ‘would you be willing to do, instead of wings, grilled salmon strips?’ And in my head I was like, that had to come from his mouth … that’s as close as we’ve gotten. And then it fell through.”

While changing from chicken to salmon seems like an odd request, the show does have precedent. Numerous celebs, including Mick Foley, have eaten vegan wings on the show, showing that the Hot Ones team will accommodate for different diets.
