In a stunning close to the September 23 episode of WWE RAW, Jey Uso beat Bron Breakker to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
After coming out on top in a qualifying match last week, Uso was overpowered by Breakker early. Breakker continued his dominance for a bit, even taunting Jey with some pushups. Although it looked like it would be a tough matchup for Uso, the fan-favorite superstar rallied.
Late in the match, Uso fired himself up by kicking out of the Breakkensteiner. After trading some punches, Breakker hit Uso with a vicious Spear outside of the ring, but Uso countered with one of his own right away.
Back in the ring, Uso hit a big Uso Splash for a near fall, and was then thrown out of the ring. Just as it looked like Breakker was going to send Uso through the barricade, Jey sprung up for a superkick, then speared Breakker through it instead. He then threw Breakker into the ring, hit another Spear, then another Uso Splash to clinch the win.
The win gives Uso his first ever singles title reign in the company.
The loss ended Breakker’s reign at 51 days. He won the title by beating Sami Zayn at WWE SummerSlam.
