Wade Barrett has not been a full-time wrestler in many years, but JBL sees his in-ring return taking place.
Barrett was the inaugural winner of the NXT competition series. The English wrestler moved on to the main roster and led his own faction, the Nexus. The Nexus featured all the wrestlers who participated in the first season of NXT including Heath Slater and Bryan Danielson. He then moved on to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship on five different occasions. Barrett is also a former winner of the King of the Ring tournament.
He’s now a full-time commentator for Monday Night Raw. Barrett has not wrestled since 2016. However, JBL is convinced that the English wrestler will be making his return to the ring.
While speaking on the Huge Pop Radio, John Bradshaw Layfield shared his thoughts on Barrett. JBL mentioned that if Barrett still has the urge to compete, then he should return to the ring.
“He’s still young. He was a good worker. Yeah, I think he probably will. If I were him, do it. You have all of your life to do commentary. You don’t have all your life to get into the ring. If I’m him, if you still have the urge, just try it. If it doesn’t work out, so what, go back to commentary. If it does, you’ve got something, and then go back to commentary,” said JBL. Recently, Barrett claimed that he has ‘mentally moved on’ from full-time wrestling. Despite that, he said there is one match that he would “100%” return for.
