WWE SmackDown Viewership Decreases On 9/20, Still Tops Cable In Demographic

WWE SmackDown saw a decrease in viewership on September 20.

According to Wrestlenomics (via Programming Insider), SmackDown averaged 1.494 million viewers on Friday. The show drew a 0.45 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership number is down from last week’s episode when an average of 1.723 million viewers tuned in. The demo also dropped from last week‘s episode, which drew a 0.55 rating in the same demographic. 

SmackDown ranked #1 in the demographic among cable originals in primetime on Friday. The show was up against college football (Stanford vs. Syracuse) on ESPN, which had a 0.34 rating in the key demographic.

What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?

This week’s show kicked off with LA Knight defeating Andrade to retain the United States Championship.

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns met face-to-face on the Georgia Tech football field in anticipation of their tag match against The Bloodline at Bad Blood.

Later on in the show, Andrade and Carmelo Hayes brawled in the back to set up a sixth match between the two men next week.

The main event saw Kevin Owens and The Street Profits taking on The Bloodline, which ended in a no-contest when the referee threw the match out after losing control of the competitors.
