Report: WWE SmackDown Adding A Third Hour In January 2025

It looks like WWE SmackDown will be getting a third hour in the near future.

WWE SmackDown has been a two-hour show since its inception. That looks to change, according to a new report from WrestleVotes on WrestleVotes Radio.

The outlet is reporting that SmackDown will gain an additional hour on USA Network after RAW moves over to Netflix in January 2025. The three-hour SmackDown format would begin with the January 3, 2025 episode of SmackDown.

WWE has not announced changes to the show’s format. However, it is confirmed that WWE RAW will return to a two-hour format, albeit briefly.

WWE RAW will air for two hours starting on October 7. This will be in effect until the show starts on Netflix in January, when it will revert to a three-hour show.

Update: In a follow-up, WrestleVotes is reporting the three-hour format is currently planned to last through June 2025.

More changes to SmackDown

Changes to SmackDown have already started, as the show received a new logo for last week’s premiere episode on USA Network. SmackDown also got a new theme song. Megan Thee Stallion’s “Neva Play”, featuring RM of BTS, is the new theme song for the show.

A handful of legends were also in attendance to celebrate the show’s USA Network premiere. Vickie Guerrero and Rob Van Dam were shown in the crowd. Others, such as World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser, William Regal and Bobby Roode, were spotted on-screen.
