Mercedes Moné Confirms Talks For Megan Thee Stallion Collaboration, Says She Shouldn’t Have Said Anything In Hindsight

Mercedes Moné says she should have kept a lid on things regarding a potential collaboration.

Last week, Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Neva Play” was revealed as the new theme song for WWE SmackDown. In a follow-up, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that Moné and Megan Thee Stallion agreed to work together after meeting each other at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in February. According to the report, representatives for each side entered negotiations. This was also floated as a possibility by Moné while promoting AEW All In, as she hoped to get Megan The Stallion in the ring.

WWE landed the deal for “Neva Play” after this. It would look like a collaboration between Moné and Megan is off the table for now.

Moné has now commented on the negotiations with Megan Thee Stallion’s team. Her comments were featured in the latest edition of her Moné Mag newsletter. Moné says that she should have stayed quiet about it, but teased other plans her team has in the works.

Mercedes Moné comments

“Sports Illustrated and other sources reported on conversations between my advocate Kev, and Meg’s manager, Mike B., regarding her and me doing stuff at AEW. It’s true,” Moné wrote in her newsletter. “A few weeks ago in an interview, I made the mistake of teasing the idea, which made headlines. More recently, it was announced that Meg would be part of the new Smackdown theme. It could all be a coincidence, of course. But then, they don’t call me the blueprint for nothing. In hindsight, I should have kept my mouth shut about it but all you can do is live and learn.

“I’m flattered and honored in a way, as it proves we are clearly on the right path. While I would have loved to work with Meg and would have loved to see her work with our brand, I’m still happy for her. She’s a great person and talent who will get exposure to the vast wrestling audience. Trust in this, AEW and Team Moné have a lot more brewing so it’s all good. You all will just have to wait this time to hear about it. ;)”
