Wheeler Yuta is willing to defend the AEW World Trios Championships on the line after being called out by Claudio Castagnoli and PAC.
During Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Yuta responded to a message from PAC and Castagnoli, in which PAC essentially told Yuta to show up to AEW Grand Slam and defend the titles along with them, telling him to “come to work.” Castagnoli said he was disappointed in Yuta. Jon Moxley questioned what kind of man Yuta was, but ultimately said that he was free to leave the group at any time, should he please.
In a backstage interview, Yuta said that he had been out of sorts for a bit following his aunt’s passing. He said that Bryan Danielson had given him some words of advice, though, and says he is a fighting champion and plans to defend the titles with them, saying he’d kick whoever’s ass he needs to.
In another interview, Private Party seemingly accepted the challenge, although they didn’t name who would be their third partner. However, later in the show, Moxley smashed Isiah Kassidy’s hand with a hammer, so it’s unclear who will challenge for the titles.
Yuta’s allegiance to Moxley, Castagnoli, and PAC has been unclear since they turned on Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out. Previously, Yuta, Moxley, Danielson, and Castagnoli had been in Blackpool Combat Club.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
