John Cena is set to star in a movie about Matchbox cars.
Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter reports that Cena has agreed to star in Matchbox, a live-action movie about the Mattel car toyline. Director Sam Hargrave (Extraction), is set to helm the project for Apple Original Films.
The screenplay is by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) and Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project). Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger, along with Mattel Film’s Robbie Brenner, are attached as producers.
Cena is coming off his role in Jackpot, and he has been shooting the second season of Peacemaker.
In WWE, Cena will have a farewell run leading up to his in-ring retirement in 2025.
