AEW Dynamite Results (9/11/24): Tag Team Casino Gauntlet Match

AEW Dynamite Results – September 11, 2024

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with a video package of Jon Moxley speaking following All Out. Moxley says Bryan Danielson doesn’t have the stomach to do what it takes anymore. Moxley talks about the formation of the Blackpool Combat Club and what it was supposed to represent. Mox says the egos in AEW are running out of control and he can’t take it anymore.

Moxley touches upon William Regal without mentioning him by name. Mox says they tried things Danielson’s way but diplomacy has failed, now he chooses war.

Darby Allin is seen skateboarding through the parking lot before entering the building.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and brings out Christian Cage and The Patriarchy. Christian Cage asks everyone to sit down and shut up while he conducts his business. Cage says according to Nick Wayne, the word on the street is that he has infinite aura. Cage says with the guaranteed title contract, that’s undeniable.

Christian Cage says when Killswitch grabbed him by the throat at All In something finally clicked in his eyes and he understood that he’s the monster Cage has always wanted him to be. Cage says he didn’t get to cash in his title shot at All Out but promises that Danielson’s days as champion are numbered. Cage says he’s going to beat Danielson so badly that Brie will be the one who wishes she had CTE.

Don Callis cashes in his favor from Will Ospreay

Don Callis is backstage with Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, and Konsuke Takeshita. Callis asks Ospreay to team with Kyle Fletcher tonight to win the Tag Team Casino Gauntlet match to get a shot at the Young Bucks for the Tag Titles.

Ospreay says he has a lot on his plate right now but Callis cashes in his favor for letting Ospreay leave the Don Callis Family. Fletcher pleads his case and Ospreay agrees. Everyone is happy about it besides Takeshita, who stares daggers at Ospreay.

Jack Perry defeated Lio Rush (w/ Action Andretti) to retain the AEW TNT Championship

  • Jack Perry hits Lio Rush with the running knee strike to score the pinfall victory.

Alex Marvez catches up with Jack Perry backstage who says people like him are crucified in this lifetime so they can be worshiped in the next. Perry gets back in his bus and drives away.

A video package plays recapping the steel cage match between Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland.

Hangman Page is backstage with Renee Paquette. Page says if he could find a thousand houses that Strickland lived in he would have burned them all to the ground. Page says anyone who tried to stand between him and Swerve who tried to protect him, he will find them and he will hurt them.

Hangman walks by Top Flight, Dark Order, and others. Page eventually goes face to face with Jeff Jarrett who reads him the riot act before the two men start brawling. Page throws Jarrett onto a pile of steel chairs before the two men are separated.

No Trios match for you!

A trios match was going to take place featuring Private Party and Komander but they are jumped by Blackpool Combat Club and get taken out. PAC says they have been patient, but enough is enough. The Bastard says AEW is broken and what happened at All Out was inevitable, they are inevitable. PAC says he was lost for a long time but not anymore, he now has a purpose. PAC says diplomacy has failed and this company is theirs.

The Learning Tree arrives in the parking lot. Chris Jericho says today is a glorious day pointing out his new car, his stablemates, and his suit that was stained by Orange Cassidy years ago. Jericho says he found something in Cassidy’s backpack and he’s going to show it to everyone later tonight.

Ricochet defeated Sammy Guevara

  • Ricochet hits Sammy Guevara with Vertigo to score the pinfall victory.

After the match, The Beast Mortos attacks Ricochet. Guevara hits the ring with a steel chair to chase Mortos off. Guevara and Ricochet shake hands in a show of respect.

Kazuchika Okada is backstage. Okada says defending his Continental Title at All Out was the hardest night of his life, he fakes crying before revealing that it was very easy. Don Callis says he did well but he didn’t beat Takeshita. Okada says Takeshita will be a champion but it won’t be his title… bitch!

Darby Allin calls out Jon Moxley on AEW Dynamite

Darby Allin makes his way to the ring. Allin says someone has been looking for him, well he’s right here. Jon Moxley comes through the crowd with Marina Shafir. Moxley says it doesn’t matter what he saw, nothing has changed between them. Allin says that’s enough and there’s a lot he wants to talk to him about.

Darby Allin says they both came from nothing and they never want to go back to that. Allin says he wrestles the he does because of AEW. Allin says getting into the business he wanted to be just like Jon Moxley. Darby recalls the first time they met each other in a high school on the independents.

Allin says he would never do to Sting like he did to Bryan, they are supposed to be family and now he knows he wants to be nothing like him. Moxley says he’s cutting right to the chase, his title shot against Danielson isn’t happening at Grand Slam because the champion isn’t fit to compete. Mox says it’s a good thing because he’s not ready and he wants Allin to hand over his title shot to him.

Darby Allin will face Jon Moxley at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam later this month to determine a number one contender for Bryan Danielson’s World Title

Allin asks if he’s stupid and asks if he’s been drinking again. Allin says Mox didn’t earn it and he’s not just gonna give it to him. Darby says if Mox wants it so bad, do something about it. Moxley says if he wants him to earn it, he will. Mox tells Allin to put his title shot on the line at Grand Slam and tells Allin he’ll never be the AEW World Champion.

Moxley says that the title shot is going to be is and he’ll teach him a lesson the hard way. Allin accepts and says if he wants to burn AEW to the ground don’t be surprised if he pulls him into the fire.

Christopher Daniels is backstage and says he doesn’t understand what Darby Allin just did putting his shot on the line. Nigel McGuinness comes in and says he and Daniels need to speak to Tony Khan right now. McGuinness takes Daniels with him to talk to Tony.

AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defeated Queen Aminata in an Eliminator Match

  • Mariah May hits Queen Aminata with Storm Zero to score the pinfall victory.

After the match, May says she still hasn’t had her title celebration. May says something is missing…someone is missing. May asks Mina Shirakawa to come back to AEW.

The Young Bucks address the state of AEW’s tag team division

The Young Bucks are backstage. Matthew Jackson says when they first started AEW they wanted to have the greatest tag team division of all time, but they didn’t know that just meant them. Matthew says they are still here doing all the heavy lifting.

Nicholas Jackson says they booked the Casino Gauntlet Tag Team match to see if anyone is worthy to challenge the greatest tag team of this generation. Nicholas says they’ll be out there watching live.

A video package plays, recapping the rivalry between Jamie Hayter and Saraya.

The Learning Tree defeated Iron Savages and Jacked Jameson

  • Chris Jericho scored the pinfall for his team in a quick squash.

After the match, Jericho says he wants his $7,000 back so he’s just gonna keep taking Orange Cassidy’s things until he does. Jericho says he didn’t find his money in his backpack but he found a picture of him with his former best friends. Jericho says Cassidy’s problem is he’s too obsessed with friendship and if you think you have a friend in wrestling you’re probably being used.

Big Bill looks at Jericho strangely with those remarks as Jericho continues to demand his cash. Orange Cassidy gets on the Tron and says he has Jericho’s money but he doesn’t have it all on him. Cassidy says his boys are bringing the rest of his cash. Kyle O’Reilly and Bark Briscoe arrive with a scoop truck and dump $7,000 in pennies all over Jericho’s new car.

Nigel McGuinness will take on Bryan Danielson at AEW Grand Slam

Nigel McGuinness is in the ring and says he has something he needs to get off his chest. McGuinness says with Allin putting his title opportunity on the line against Moxley at Grand Slam, that means there won’t be an AEW World Title match.

McGuinness says that’s good for Danielson, but it’s not good for AEW. Nigel believes the AEW World Champion should be competing at Grand Slam. McGuinness presents a contract and says he’s an afterthought of Danielson’s career that should have been his. Nigel says Danielson is afraid of him.

McGuinness says Danielson is afraid of the one match everyone wants to see, but Tony Khan isn’t afraid and knows a money match when he sees one. McGuinness says he’ll be facing Bryan Danielson at AEW Grand Slam.

A vignette airs with HOOK. HOOK says he respects Roderick Strong, but he was disturbed when his group jumped him after choking him out. HOOK says that’s not the Roddy Strong he knows and respects and he challenges Strong to a match for the FTW Title any place he wants.

The Young Bucks sit on the stage to watch tonight’s main event.
