Funaki made an appearance on WWE NXT.
Giulia made her debut at NXT No Mercy, and she competed in her first match on the September 10 episode of WWE NXT, where she defeated Chelsea Green.
Later in the show, Giulia appeared backstage, and Funaki was next to her. He helped translate as NXT General Manager Ava spoke to her. NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez appeared, and Giulia spoke for herself to send Perez a message.
Funaki previously had a lengthy run with WWE. He was a member of Kai En Tai, and he also had a run as SmackDown’s Number One Announcer. He later won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship before he was repackaged as Kung Fu Naki and later released in 2010. Funaki returned to WWE in 2016 and has been doing Japanese commentary. He has made sporadic appearances over the years.
