Tony Khan is confident about AEW‘s media rights negotiations with Warner Brothers Discovery.
Speaking at the AEW All Out Post-Show Media Scrum, Tony Khan was asked about AEW’s media rights negotiations by Corey Lieb of the Wrestling Observer.
“We’re still in very, very close and exciting negotiations with Warner Brothers Discovery,” Tony Khan said. “It’s been going on throughout the summer that we’ve been having these conversations, and it’s a very detailed package that we’re having discussions about.”
After highlighting the growth of AEW’s relationship with Warner Brothers Discovery, he reiterated his comments to the live crowd after the September 6 taping of AEW Rampage. There, he stated that it was safe to say that AEW was here to stay on TBS and TNT.
“I said that, ‘I think it’s safe to say I believe AEW is here to stay on TNT and TBS,’ and I think that’s true for a very long time, and I believe it,” Tony Khan said. “I have not put pen to paper, I’m still working on things. It’s an exciting time, without getting too specific. But while giving everybody that anticipation of things to come, there’s really exciting things to come in AEW. I’m very grateful to have the support of Warner Brothers Discovery, TNT, and TBS.”
Tony Khan’s Percentage
Later in the scrum, Khan was asked to provide a percentage of the likelihood that an announcement about the media rights deal would be made in the next month or so. He responded by saying, “90 percent.”
As Khan closed out the scrum, he reiterated that he was confident and optimistic about the situation.
“We sit in a really good place,” Tony Khan said. “Like I said, I feel like we’ve on the one-yard-line. I’m not sure how many snaps it’s gonna take to punch the ball into the end zone. But I’m very confident, I’m 100 percent sure the ball’s going in the end zone. That’s how good I feel about the media rights.”
