Kris Statlander says Stokely Hathaway wouldn’t turn down getting his flowers.
Statlander spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of AEW All Out, where she will face Willow Nightingale in a street fight. Statlander will have Big Stoke in her corner, as the pair have continued their working relationship after turning on Nightingale.
Kris Statlander was asked if there was something she has learned from Stokely Hathaway that he would not want to take credit for. Statlander said Stokely is not one to pass up credit.
“I don’t think he’s the type of person to deny being credited for something. I think he’s very much a, ‘Yeah. No. This is me. I did this.’ [type of person],” she explained. “And there’s a level of respect to be had with someone who owns up and is not afraid to be like, ‘Yeah. No. That was on me. I did that.’ So… Not everyone needs to be humble.”
Kris Statlander says there’s no backstage uppies
Hathaway and Statlander also have a comedic element to their partnership. This includes Stokely asking for uppies as he gets in the ring.
Statlander was asked how much he asks for the assist. She said it all happens in the ring, and she can’t say no to the request.
“You see them all on TV. There’s none… There’s no backstage uppies happening,” Statlander said. “We don’t hang out outside of work, so you see them all. Trust me. It’s in front of a crowd. I have to. I have no choice, I can’t upset him in front of everyone.”
