Gunther is adamant that whoever earns the right to face him next should be well-prepared.
The World Heavyweight Champion dispatched Randy Orton in the main event of Bash In Berlin this weekend. Due to his immense popularity and history in Germany, it made complete sense for him to go on last, while WWE Champion Cody Rhodes opens the show.
CM Punk made his intentions to be next in line to face Gunther clear at the event. However, the Austrian is not in a rush to face just anybody.
Gunther spoke to the Gorilla Position following his win at Bash in Berlin. The World Heavyweight Champion was asked who was next to face him at Bad Blood, and if he’d like to battle them inside a Hell in a Cell.
He confidently asserted that he is the “top guy”, and his next opponent will have to qualify to wrestle him. However, he noted that they should be prepared to face the Ring General.
“That, you have to ask everybody else. I’m the top guy here. Everybody else has to line up and qualify to face me. So as far as I’m concerned, whoever comes next, well, be prepared for it.”

Gunther was then asked if the decision to go on first or last was something he and Cody Rhodes discussed beforehand. The Austrian revealed it is not, and management decide it based on the occasion.
“No, not really. That decision is with management, and all I can do is give my best to be in the top spot as much as possible.” Gunther sad.
“But it also depends on the occasion. Of course, we’re competitors, but we still play for the same team. On the other hand, I think today it was very fitting that I was the one walking out last. Yeah, I guess ‘Bad Blood’ that’s in Georgia—think that’s very fitting, that Cody will be there last. So yeah, we will see. Obviously, competitors on the one hand, teammates on the other, and whatever fits the occasion best.”
