Recently, the former host of WWE’s The Bump, Matt Camp, revealed that there was real-life heat between Roman Reigns and Matt Riddle. Recently, the former WWE United States Champion opened up about the issue that Reigns had with him.
While speaking to the New York Post, Matt Riddle reflected on past comments where he said that he could defeat the likes of Roman Reigns and Goldberg in a real fight.
“This isn’t a flex, this is the truth. If I didn’t think I could I wouldn’t say it. You don’t hear me saying I can beat up Bobby Lashley, you know maybe on a good day. Or a Brock Lesnar, maybe on a good day.”
Riddle also added that it was a promo that didn’t sit well with Reigns. But later on, Riddle tried to apologize, but it didn’t go as planned. Riddle and Reigns later worked together on TV, and Riddle believes that’s when things took a positive turn.
“I think when he saw how professional I am in the ring and I also explained why things were said and I wasn’t just trying to call you out,” Riddle said.
He also mentioned he knew his place in WWE and shared that he cut a promo on Reigns, as he was told to do so. Riddle also revealed that he and Reigns are on good terms now.
“I know my place in WWE but when someone tells me to cut a promo on you, I’m gonna cut a promo on you. I think he understood that. Still wasn’t happy about it, but understood. Me and Roman, we’re good.”
Matt Riddle on his run with Randy Orton
During the same interview, Riddle shared his experience working alongside Randy Orton and the success of the RK-Bro.
“He wanted to keep wrestling and keep showing his value because the thing about wrestling is you’re only as valuable as the last show you can make it to,” Riddle said. “Once, you can’t make it, you’re not as valuable to that company. I wanted to extend his career as long as I possibly could and I knew I could by taking a little of the damage and the brunt of the match.”
