Joe Hendry is ready to change the wrestling business at NXT No Mercy.
The Scottish star is set to challenge Ethan Page for the NXT Championship at the PLE. It takes place at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on September 1st, and be Joe Hendry’s first opportunity at the NXT Championship.
He built up the rivalry with Page with another concert on NXT. He insulted the former AEW star, before NXT General Manager Ava interrupted. She revealed that Trick Williams would be the special guest referee for their match, before Joe Hendry hit Ethan Page with the Standing Ovation.
Joe Hendry spoke in an NXT Exclusive on YouTube about what happened on NXT. He called attacking Page “a lot of fun”, as well as singing for the NXT Universe.
He added that he plans to change the business on Sunday at NXT No Mercy, and that nobody has ever done what he is doing right now.
“We’ll say that tonight was a lot of fun. I had so much fun out there singing for those fans. But in all seriousness, this Sunday I have an opportunity to change my life, to change the professional wrestling business.”
“What I’m doing right now in NXT has never been done before. Please tell me it’s impossible because everyone would have thought it was impossible for me to even show up. But here we are. Joe Hendry is the number one contender, and this Sunday, the world will believe at No Mercy.”
Joe Hendry Highlights How Sycho Sid Influenced His Wrestling Persona
Sycho Sid influenced Joe Hendry to become the wrestler he is today.
While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Joe Hendry reflected on the time he came from the United Kingdom to the USA and how the world practically shut down because of the looming threat of COVID-19.
“I got super into weightlifting programmes, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. I bulked up to 265 pounds and I would work out for two hours every day because I bought all the gym equipment. That’s all I was doing, just working out. In the background I was watching old WWF stuff that I’d never seen before.”
“I was watching the rise of Sycho Sid. And I thought this guy kicks a**. I thought I’m just going to be Sid if he was in the modern era, with the Joe Hendry character. I took a little bit of that influence with my move set, doing more power stuff. That influence in-ring has brought me to where I am today,” Joe Hendry said.
