Johnny Gargano Reflects On His ‘Geniune Surprise’ Return To WWE In 2022

One of the most popular tag teams in WWE is former World Tag Team Champions DIY. One half of the popular tag team is Johnny Gargano. Many suspected that he was done with WWE back in 2022 as he bid farewell to NXT. Then on a Monday night in Toronto, the Canadian Star made a surprise return to WWE on Raw.

Now, on the two-year Anniversary of his return, Johnny Gargano took to Twitter to reflect on his return to the Stamford-based promotion.

“2 years ago today, I was hiding in the Raptors locker room, waiting to return to @WWE. Only a handful of people knew I was in the building. Genuine surprises are rare in this day & age, but I’ll always be proud we were able to create such a cool moment!” Johnny Gargano tweeted.

Johnny Gargano praises Andrade

Recently, while speaking on the Media Scrum ahead of the SummerSlam Premium Live Event, Gargano shared his thoughts on Andrade who also returned to WWE earlier this year. Gargano also mentioned that he is looking forward to share the ring with Andrade once again.

“When anyone asks me what my favorite match I’ve had in my career is, I always say I hate all my own matches,” Gargano began. “But if I had to pick three, it’d be my match with Tommaso [Ciampa], my match with Adam Cole in New York, and then my match with Andrade in Takeover: Philadelphia. I think my match with Andrade at Takeover: Philadephia was really the start of a run of just an unbelievable run of Takeovers for me.

“I was very lucky to be in the ring with some amazing talent. And Andrade and me just… I feel like me and Tommaso, we are wrestling soulmates. But me and Andrade are also made to wrestle one another. And I am very pumped to see his success now. Very pumped to see him back. And who knows, maybe you’ll get another round of Johnny Gargano and Andrade one day,” Johnny Gargano said.
