Karmen Petrovic was removed from the gauntlet match on NXT, with many suspecting injury as the cause.
Six of the most promising female wrestlers in NXT battled it out this week in “gauntlet eliminator match”. The last woman standing earned a shot at Roxanne Perez for her NXT Women’s Championship at NXT No Mercy.
Karmen Petrovic was set to compete in the match and compete for a title shot on September 1st. However, she was removed from the match at the match at the last minute, with no explanation given on-screen for her absence.
Jaida Parker won the match, but Petrovic’s absence was conspicuous. Injury was the initial-suspected cause, but that has been quickly cleared up.
Fightful Select reported that Karmen Petrovic is not suffering from an injury. They spoke to sources in NXT, who confirmed that her removal was part of storyline, and not due to any injury issues.
“Karmen Petrovic is not believed to be injured” Fightful Select wrote. “Her removal from the gauntlet was said to be storyline when we asked.”
Karmen Petrovic is booked to face Izzi Dame next week on NXT. This further confirms the reports that she is not injured.

Karmen Petrovic said competing at NXT Heatwave was “so special”.
The Canadian star wrestled in front of friends and family at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto last month. She teamed with Arianna Grace to defeat Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx on the pre-show, less than two years after her NXT debut.
She took to Twitter following the even to explain what made the show so special for her.
