Rich Swann is entering rehab.
Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling reports that TNA star Rich Swann is entering a substance abuse program after he was arrested on June 8 and charged with disorderly public intoxication and causing a disturbance. Thurston wrote that TNA informed POST Wrestling that Swann would be entering a substance abuse program.
Thurston cites the public arrest record filed with Seminole country, which states that an individual later identified as Swann tried to forcefully enter an apartment, and the resident called the police. The resident confronted Swann and showed him his gun, so Swann backed up and left. It’s possible that Swann mistook the apartment for his own home, as he lives nearby.
The resident said that he did not want to press charges, but another individual in the neighborhood encountered Swann, as he was following her. Swann allegedly followed her to her door, but she got inside. Officers then took Swann into custody and took him back to the first apartment to confirm that he was the one who tried to forcibly enter the residence.
More Details
Per Thurston, the police report states that Rich Swann was incoherent, and he appeared to be intoxicated. In the police report, Zane Hoskins of the Altamonte Springs Police Department stated that he asked Swann if he had any alcoholic drinks, and he said that he had. When asked how much, he said, “A lot.”
Hoskins stated that he smelled alcohol on Swann’s breath, and his speech was slurred. Furthermore, the arrest report notes that Swann was taken to John E. Polk Correction Facility and released the next day on a $250 bond.
Thurston writes that a pre-trial conference for Rich Swann’s case was scheduled for August 21. Per Thurston, Swann was previously charged with the same offense in September 2022; he was arrested for allegedly causing a disturbance while intoxicated at the apartment complex where he lives. He was then ordered to pay $351.49 by the court.
but it was not reported in the media.
TNA’s Statement
Additionally, Thurston writes that TNA became aware of the incidents when POST Wrestling reached out for comment, and they issued the following statement:
“He has informed TNA Wrestling that he is voluntarily entering into a substance abuse rehabilitation program. TNA Wrestling has suspended Rich pending the completion of its investigation into the incidents.”
Rich Swann wrestled for TNA days after the arrest, as he competed at TNA Against All Odds. He has worked TNA tapings and independent shows since the arrest, but he is pulling out of independent dates.
Swann is a former IMPACT World Champion and IMPACT X-Division Champion, among other accolades. He previously had a WWE run and held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. He was arrested in 2017 and charged with imprisonment and simple domestic battery. However, the charges were ultimately dropped due to insufficient evidence. The incident led to Swann being suspended by WWE and released two months later.
