Rey Fenix‘s potential AEW departure may not be imminent after all, according to a new report.
In recent weeks, fans have buzzed about the Lucha Bros potentially leaving AEW and heading to WWE. Fightful Select reported that the duo were not looking to re-sign with AEW. They have reportedly claimed that they have had talks with WWE. Penta El Zero Miedo has reportedly said that they are a package deal, and this was not believed to be an issue, as WWE was interested in both stars.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported an update, saying that there was “concern now”, as AEW had the right to extend Rey Fenix’s contract. Meltzer noted that Fenix’s contract could be extended for another year due to the time he has missed due to injuries.
As previously reported, Penta’s contract is expected to expire sometime between August and September. The same is true of Fenix’s deal unless AEW extends it.
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo have been with AEW since 2019. They have held the tag team titles and the trios titles. Fenix also won the AEW International Championship.
Penta recently dismissed the “gossip” and said that his present was AEW. However, the duo’s future remains unclear.
WrestleZone will provide more information about Rey Fenix’s status as it becomes available.
