Damian Priest Was Waiting For Phone Call To Get Released After Edge Was Kicked Out Of Judgment Day

Damian Priest thought he was going to get released after Edge left the Judgment Day.

Priest aligned with Edge to form the Judgment Day in 2022. The group went on to add Rhea Ripley. Balor joined the faction as well, and Edge was kicked out. Since then, the group has changed a lot, as Priest, Ripley, and Balor went on a remarkable run with Dominik Mysterio, a later addition.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Damian Priest reflected on Edge leaving the Judgment Day. He admitted that he thought the group was done.

“We’d just had a major moment joining together forming The Judgment Day,” Damian Priest said. “It felt like no time had passed, and then it was Edge who told me that he was being taken out of the group. He waited to tell me after TV one night when we were on the road. I thought we were done. I was so upset. When Rhea found out, she was even more mad than me.”

Priest also noted that he was waiting for the phone call to get released, as it felt like the group was doomed.

“Edge was mad, too,” Damian Priest said. “I still speak with him–he was one of our biggest backers. When he told me, I remember him saying, ‘All of this, for nothing.’ And I repeated that–for nothing. That’s the way it felt at the time.

“I was waiting for the phone call to get released. Obviously, it worked out a lot differently.”

Instead, the Judgment Day dominated WWE for months, and Priest reached a new high when he won the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE WrestleMania 40.

The New Judgment Day Rises

Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley recently split apart from the Judgment Day, as Fin Balor turned on Priest and took control of the group. The new version includes Balor, Mysterio, and later additions JD McDonagh and Carlito, along with Liv Morgan. Priest and Ripley will face Mysterio and Morgan at WWE Bash in Berlin.
