Netflix Shares Trailer For ‘The Queen of Villains’

Netflix released the trailer for their upcoming series”The Queen of Villains“.

In July, the streaming service announced the series, which is centered around Japanese wrestling legend Dump Matsumoto. The five-episode show will explore the untold story of the rise of Dump Matsumoto in All Japan Women’s Pro-Wrestling in the 1980s. She was one of the top heels in Zenjo during its heyday. Dump Matsumoto’s rivalry with the Crush Gals became an all-time great rivalry in Japan. They regularly sold out arenas, while having some of the highest-rated segments in Japanese television at the time.

Netflix previously announced that the show would premiere on September 19th worldwide. In an update, they released the first trailer for the show, giving fans a glimpse of the actress portraying Dump Matsumoto for the first time.

The trailer starts with Kaoru Matsumoto as a child. It then shows her becoming a wrestling fan and eventually training to become a wrestler. The video shows her overcoming advertising, tough training regimes, and doubters to become a wrestling star in Japan.

Yuriyan Retriever portrays the Dump Matsumoto. Netflix describes her as a “multi-talented comedian”, which seems accurate given how well she portrayed the different parts of Matsumoto’s life in the trailer.

Meanwhile, Ayame Goriki will play the iconic Lioness Asuku, considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. She was a member of the Crush Galls and one of Dump Matsumoto’s greatest rivals in the ring.

“Witness the rise of Japan’s most frightening heel. The Queen of Villains, the untold story of Dump Matsumoto, premieres September 19.”
